Thanks. Thats a good point. How willi feel if it gets speed hook. Difficult to get the nose up ? Excessive trim needed ?
The boat doing 80 is an global mirage. An old english boat.

The factory hook has been removed out to the first running strakes. And the pad is straight. I left the factory hook in the outer strakes thinking that might help avoid mid speeds porpoising

Yes.... harder to air out and fly. Getting rid of the hook on the strakes.... the hull still has hook......That Global looks like a nice boat....Some boats like a hook, the streams to make them think the bottom has a sharper angle of attack..I think that's how they work. Lift the back like a cleaver prop. JMO...... the boys that know how it works can chime in...... I would like to Know how a boat with 101 different running surface shapes can Scream....

I shipped a car to Europe once, it was a lot more reasonable cost wise than most would guess. I shipped another couple from Dubai over here and again, not all that expensive. We put them in containers and loaded/picked them up ourselves. Considering you have dreams of a Viper, and certainly not an attempt to mess with your project here but there are a couple nice Vipers for sale. Maybe one of the sellers would work with you to get one shipped over to you? You would need to arrange loading one into a container and contact some local shipping co's. Id guess your looking at two grand USD or so to get one shipped over.
Theres some nice ones listed in the for sale section
Hope I dont derail you here, but thought it worth the mention.Hydrostream dreamin

And its appriciated. I once looked into importing an tunnel like an stv. It was not just the freight. We must pay extra 25% vat. And extra 15 % tax. And the shipping harbour is Hamburg so the boat must be picked up in another country.
But thats prob. Ok the waters here do not suit the low tunnel of an stv.
Instead i got a procat 18 delivered from norway, its a small true tunnel. It flies over waves nice.

Leave it to the gov't to take the joy out of life. Gov'ts will grant money to all sorts of needy nations, let all sorts of illegal migrants in and pay for them too. But heave forbid any tax paying citizen wants to bring some small purchases in the country, then you better look out because those types, those citizens who have done good enough and worked hard enough to attempt to make such a dream come true? Those ones, are the ones we need to regulate
You cant make this stuff up it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth the colossal insanity of these bureaucrats. Anyways, now that I have enjoyed my coffee fueled rant in your awesome boat thread. I guess we focus on making your SW fly then right?

I ran a 16' Low-Pro with a 235 OMC. Hull had a pad added, but it was still an insane boat to drive. My best speed was 76 mph GPS.

Nice. I just collected a 2.5 xri 150 thats going to be a little modified to be test mule for the sidewinder. If it preforms good then the 2.5 carb modified motor goes on.
Im so excited to get it running. It has not been run i 8 years. So it gets a complete teardown. Light hone and change whats needed.

I have a feeling that 2.5 is going to be way to much for the little 14' hull but the pad should make a difference. I have a 16 Schuster Torino ( Same boat as the SW SS with the windshield.) with an Optimax 150. The little puddle we play on is barely enough water but I have had it up to 50 MPH before I have to turn round.
If you can upgrade to Hydraulic Steering and start with a 4 Blade SS prop 20 P or better. Mine drone like a school bus with twin I beam Suspension with a 3 blade and could not get it to plane what so ever.
The day I brought it home from hanging the motor, new steering, cables, gauges and what not......before I started playing with props.
Good luck with the project. I don't know how you guys get these boats insured when over powered like has been mentioned.....I had to fight like hell to get the 150 hung until the shop owner found it was rated for 150 HP Max on the tag at just the right angle with a flash light.

There will be hyd seastar steering. And stiff motormounts.
As well as jackplate, i has several props to try depending of the way hull lifts. From choppers to 3 and 4 blade cleavers. 24 to 30 pitch. So i hope it will go.
On old boats no one here knows the max rating so you just tell the insurance the hull no and how many horses. On new hulls it is different.
Our waters is almost only open sea. We are a small country with sea almost all the way around.
