    Land & Sea Jacking Plate

Hi There, I'm looking for some advice, I have a Land & Sea Jacking plate (I think it is a 600 model) it has stopped working, all it is now doing is just clicking through the solonoid when you try and jack it down or up and I suspect the brushes in the electric motor are worn out. I have got to try and get the electric motor out without removing my Merc 300X and I’m told, this can be done quite easily is this the case? I have been told that if you support the motor, I plan to do so by screwing in a lifting eye to the fly wheel and then using a block and chain and then, I'm told if you remove the pin from the bottom of the hydraulic ram on the jack plate you can lift the plate right up exposing the electric motor then apparently you can remove the electric motor and get the brushes replaced well that’s the plan.

Is this the case please? if I extend the jack plate right up by lifting the motor can I easily remove the electic motor to take to an auto electical / starter motor rebuilder to fix it?

What about the hydralics when and if I remove the electric motor will I have to refill this and if so how do I go about doing this please?

Please can I have some advice on fixing this as I have a ski race on shortly and I dont want the hasstle of removing the motor and stripping the jack plate etc to get this jack plate fixed - I really appreciate any advice any of the members could give me please :-)

Welcome to the site. Have you tried to bypass the solenoid to be sure the solenoid is not the problem. They fail more often than the motors.

You can remove the pump and motor assembly by removing the c clips and pins at the top and bottom. Then drop the unit out the bottom. no need to separate the plate halves.

This works well. I did exactly this method this summer. I suggest replacing the O-rings in the pump while you have it out. This thread here goes into detail
