    Laser LTV

Hey all. So I’m back in saddle again and picked up a nice ltv. Has anyone ran a 15” mid on one? I planing a 4” set back. From what I’ve read that’s a good set up point.

    Thanks

    Good Starting Point

I'm running one with a 15" Cut midsection. Slidemaster 3" jackplate. Couldn't get the motor low enough with the front mounted steering so I had to run bobs 2" setback spacers. Going to side ram soon to get the motor closer to the transom. The set up you're describing sounds like itd be a great place to start. What power are you planning?

    Heres my Setup.

I ran a 6” plate on my Laser. 15”. Sporty. Ran 93 with a 150xr6 powerhead, 97 with a 200. About an inch to an inch and a quarter above the pad.

Laser Ed ran a 15” drag motor on his laser and ran 117mph.
He also hurt a lot of feelings racing that old boat in ODBA

Nice can't wait to see how it comes out. The 15" mid helped a ton with handling and the closer you get it to the transom the better. I did the same thing you're doing so if you want any pictures of how it went together just PM me I have plenty. Love these lasers, not too many around.

a few pics of the set up would be great, just to get some ideas to run with. I`ll get some pics up of mine soon as I get it cleaned up some.

Here's how it turned out in the end.

I added two braces. One was cut into the knees and tied into the transom with 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood as u can see in the second pic. The other was a boxed support built around the built-in setback. Definitely a little overkill but now I don't worry about it anymore.

yeah you build stuff like me, hmm yeah one more layer of glass won't hurt. I have knees new transom, next to to is a new half cover for the stern, going to pick up the mid section this weekend and get that going again. bring to keep the original gel but someone decided to put a fuel tank fwd and put the vent and fill in the blue and metal flake. Could have moved it 3" and avoid that.

    Fuel Tank

I remember the original layout of the fuel tank had the fuel pick up in the front of the tank leaving about 4 to 5 gallons of unusable fuel in the already small tank. I was able to turn mine so that the pickup was in the rear but lost a little storage space. Very worth it in my opinion.

Always thought about how to get a bigger tank in there but it wouldn't be easy would have to redesign a few things!

Sounds like a cool color scheme even if the previous owner screwed up some of the original gel. Can't wait to see it!
