Oh I'm ready to see the motor back on it too! Should be able to get it done this summer. Shooting for the 4th as my goal right now. There will be multiple GoPro's recording the event haha. Going to pick up a newer one so I can have the GPS/MPH overlay too.

Started laying glass on the bottom patches.

Also, project passed 500 hour mark.

All the stress cracks I could catch with a finger nail were ground out and patched in with CSM. This was a long process, there was lot of damage on this hull.

I'm starting the blueprint process now. I have a full layer of filler over the pad and main running surface and have sanded that down to the point where I'll start adding more to the low spots. Looking at the shape of the bottom I think I'll have to add some strips of CSM on the first chine(floor). There's almost 1/8" of hook here using a 4' straight edge from the rear forward.

Starting to fell the pressure of summer getting closer. It's 65 here today.

Mrichartz, I still have all that left once the hull is finished May end up doing a road trip at some point to check out a S&F meet up.

But my dad did take the clamshells and got those all polished up and ready to rock. They look new now!

I didn't have to do any of it. My dad spent a few hours working on them. They were pretty dirty and covered with tree sap and such.

Yes it was. He was looking for something to tinker with on the weekends. It's technically his boat, him and my uncle bought it in '81 and used it as a ski boat for decades. So he will get plenty of seat time with it in the future.

The clamshell cowls look great. Any idea what your dad used (products/methods) to get them shining like that? I'd like to do the same before I spring for new decals...

Car wash soap, rubbing compound, wax, and time. He finished it off with a spray wax, and some sort of vinyl treatment for the decals. He did it by hand without a machine buffer.

Still plugging away on blueprinting this thing. Seems to be never ending. It was FAR from straight when I started. The pad was relatively straight and flat other than where it was sitting on a roller for the last decade. The rest had a whole bunch of hook. I added CSM on the first chine to remove most the hook, almost 3/16" in spots. I've been using Adtech P-14 for filler for the rest. Hope to have it wrapped up in the next few days and move onto primer.

Did you get that Adtech filler locally?

Yes, Express Composites in North East has it, I've bought all my supplies from them so far. Great guys.
