not hard to do. cut bristles on a brush to make 6 or seven long bristle bunches. dip and splatter. depends on th etype paint or gel you are using and how you mix it. throw them away after every use.

This is really good looking spatter. Old school indeed. That's how we did it in the 70's. Work of art and not that easy to do the first try.

I saw a center console that was done using a sippie cup full of paint and just shaken around. Looked great!

getting serious now. Deck is installed onth ehull. Through bolted instead of screwed except for the very front. New strip of wood installed so the nut and washer have something to pull tight to the deck. Spent some time on the original rub rail an decided to go with it. Actually buffed up nice with very few dents. Trailer weighed, hull should be onth etrailer tomorrow and then we will get a empty hull weight.

they also make what they call a "webbing solution" that comes in a gallon can. you shoot it out of a paint gun & it comes out in a squigally pattern. its how they did it on the higher production volume small boats of yesteryear, but is still available.

The webbing solution we had in the old days was far, far better than the stuff they sell now.

Yes, it was used as a non-skid of sorts, and to give the inside of the hull some color contrast interest. Back in the day before those silly interliners came out...lol

Decision regarding the manul jackplate was made. The boat was originally rigged with a homemade jackplate made out of 3" Angle pieces and a wood transom . I will be fabricating the same type of jack plate to maintain this as close to original racing trim as possible. Actual transom wille a 1/4" aluminum plate with two 3/4" pieces of marine playwood laminated to it. Hope to have 1/2" adjustment capability.

Looked at commercially available manual jack plates, but this was never rigged with that type of"tech".. LOL

May end up powder coating the jack plate brackets, haven't decided yet. The rest of the boat will be trimmed out in black .

pic of the aluminum plate that the 1 1/2 transom will be bonded to. Plan is to powder coat the plate then bond it the the laminated wood . Not really necessary but want no voids for water between the wood and alum plate.

Alum plate / transom assembly will be thru bolted to the outer set of alum jack plate angles. Should be good for an inline motor.

OK, so you are building your own jack plate out of angle aluminum bolted together and the aluminum/wood piece is bolted to those angle brackets and the engine is bolted to that???? Why not just bolt the engine to the angle bracket, jack plate???
