    300R vs 300sx Weights

I would like to know if anyone has weighed a 300Xs 20in shaft with sportmaster and prop? I would want gear lube in the lower unit. The quart of oil in the resivour or what every it holds in the cowl, then I could add the remote resivor weight for a grand total.

Then I would like to know what the 300R actually wieghs with all the oil in the crank case, lower unit with oil and 5 blade 15" wheel.

According to Mercury Literature the 300xs weighs 505. The 300R weighs 312? If I actually had both motors in front me would the total packages really only be 7 lbs different? I know this has been discussed somewhere else, but I don't feel like there was any real conclusion.

Go ahead and throw out your guesses, and when some one posts the facts, you can be the winner

Ok, so the 250R is 564 lbs.

How much does the 300xs weigh with lower unit. Mercury says 505 lbs. Can anyone confirm that?

These folks did it properly, interesting post. 564lbs for a 250R all in. Merc is always "gilding the lilly" I guess!

The engine was filled to the required oil level; however, no battery cables, harnesses, or cowling were attached. The engine weighed 534 lbs and the cowling (weighed separately) was 30 lbs. That's a grand total of 564 lbs when fully configured and a bit heavier than Mercury's advertised weight of 505 lbs. Given this, it is suspected that Mercury was weighing the engine minus the lower unit which would most likely result in approximately 505 lbs. It appears this is the same weighing process Mercury used for the 2.5 race engines years ago.
