Thread: looking for 22 talon

My 90 with a 300XS , was right around 1,700lbs. Another friend had a 94 that was just a smidge over 1800lbs. Mind you I had attempted to shed some weight where I could but for the new boats to be considerably heavier is nuts. With todays composites and technology they should all be lighter/faster wouldn’t you think?
Im working on a new 22 Talon now hoping to get it a few more mph. Dont think it will break 100 but Im going to try like hell. It was just weighed at Full Throttle and came in at 2,324lbs.

My 2018 is 1244 lbs (un rigged). I didn't want a lite weight hull, I wanted to dance on the deck. I have sick 2018 300XS( not pulling past 5800) Trying to get mercury to fix problems. I have run 97 so far but I am still trying different props. I have no doubt I will get it past 100. I am super happy with the boat. The construction is 1st class and it handles rough water great.

Largecar91- You basically solidified what I’m saying- new boat, new motor etc , should be 110-115mph boat. Not hoping to break 100. Im glad your happy with your boat. Congrats! Gary Armington designed some very cool, timeless boats! Im merely saying the old ones that I had or knew of were faster from what I have seen vs the new ones I have been around. Hard to argue that which is merely all Im pointing out. Mine 1990 22 ran 107 with the 300XS , 110 with an 300X. pretty sure Dave Barnes was right around 103 with an old 300 promax ( pre X ) . I beleive his was a 1994?
wayne worthy has a beautiful new red boat that must be putting up BIG numbers with the power he has on it but have not heard what it ran.Last edited by Adam McKeon; 03-22-2019 at 10:41 AM.

I think most of the new standard layup ones with 300xs's are running 104-105ish. I don't think that is bad. I remember reading years ago , the old Talons with a single Merc 280 were running mid-high 90's. I know there is a red talon(new one) that was layed up lighter and it runs close to 110 with 300xs.

I'm assuming after owning quite a few Talons that the added weight could be blamed to all the "Bling" factor of the interior, stereos, etc. I don't remember weight of my old ones but want to say about 1,200# minus motor for the less free board model and a little more for the taller free board model which was only offered as an Inboard at the time.
