outboard on transom
I am doing a in/outboard conversion , want to put the engines direct on the transom (picture) of a deep V hull no steps or anything , like in the old days , i know a bracket works better but it will make the whole thing to long and i dont like the looks.
what can i expect in performance ?

athe length would be no more then my para lift on a voyager. it will be ok but you will need to reenforce the transom. and add a couple knee braces w a thicker transom

Last one I had like that was a 311 chris craft CC. Had 225 mercs right on trans with low splash well. 25'' motors and I wished many times it had 30'' ers to have a higher transom. Ran 22'' choppers and it went mid 50's.
83 V-King, 96 Mariner, 200 hp ff block 2.5 w/a 28p choppa

Looks like old race boat..... motors close big tabs..... Going to need monster power to push...38 footers better w/io power....Just my imo. Sell it as a classic and buy smaller hull.....

I know the weight , thought you guy's know it also because if you are talking about ,,monster,, power to push it you must at least know about the weight .
i can give you a list of 38's that came from the factory with outboards , but any way , i ask for ideas about reinforcement , the rest i know my self.Last edited by jef; 10-20-2018 at 08:32 AM.

Have at it then, it is not just weight my friend. Deadrise angle, beam, windscreen set up resisting wind, gas tank/s size and location etc etc. But I suspect you know all that lol

indeed Greg , i know it all i have 2 38's , so dont need any advise from ,,experts,, what you got by the way ?
must say ,,windscreen set up resisting wind,, is a new one for me , good point for a in/outboard conversion with about 800HP that will do a lot , thanks
Any way thanks for talking Greg , but no further interest in this discussion , have a good one !Last edited by jef; 10-20-2018 at 08:44 AM.
