My brother lives near you in Osprey Fl. near the water, signed a contract on his dream house on the water, the red tide started the week after, he backed out and

    moved inland

to get away from it, even at his old house he could smell it.

Hell when the wind is out of the west my aunt and uncle can smell it 7 miles in land. Luckily the heavy die offs are over for the most part so the smell is actually not bad at the moment but it was bad

I'm thinking Harris chain of lakes.

Our traffic is 1/4 the amount in the summer, but soon 10 to 15mph below limit is the norm.

I should add that this year has been a HUGE exception to the norm. Lived here all my life and have never seen red tide like this. It usually only rears its ugly head every hand full of years and even then its only a month or so. The fact that I can go boating now until next june if I want makes the idea of 4-5 months of ice sound like a night mare that I will never live. You can have that cold schit Oh and you dont have to stay home from boating if you live on the coast like I do during a bad red tide because there are many many many beautiful lakes and rivers to have a great time on in florida so again I will say :you can have that cold schit!!

    Check this thread link out.

These are all beautiful waterways that you can boat on with no red tide during the winter rather than freezing your azzz off and shoveling snow etc

No doubt a great place to mix fresh and salt water boating. On another thread the red tide and blue green algae were discussed at length with the same description of an exceptional year for red.
The winter here is a change of activities for the lakes if you choose. The cold isn't bad if you're out on sunny days, actually enjoyable.

I'm from North Tonawanda use to have a season ski pass at Kissing Bridge, do miss the summers there and snow skiing but that's about it, spent over two years of my youth in Canada, family summer home.

Have to do what the weather permits. I enjoy a big snow storm and like to get out in it. The days of late winter only make the spring and summer when they arrive more enjoyable.

It is a bit funny when we see the news from down south and it's 39°F with people wearing whatever they can, hats gloved scarfs boots, walking around the sunny streets crying about how the government needs to save them from the cold as they go on with their day.
