Well as Uncle Bud has said Megan was released from Rehab today. Amazing but she was terrified about coming home. We can only imagine that the hospital has been so familiar to her that that was her issue. As we pulled in the drive way a big smile came over her face. She knew she was home and gonna be ok. Still a road to go but this is the next step into what we hope is a full recovery.
And yes Murphy is very happy to have her home.

Hey who said the helicopter ride was $20,000.00. Only off by a little. The 86 cents made me chuckle On a good note we have lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Have a great day

Well its noted that the insurance didnt pay anything?? WELL??? If the Medi Vac Company submitted a Bill in the same form as whats pictured no wonder it wasnt approved/kicked back for payment. For (1) That amount is beyond ridiculous for a 15 Min Flight from Toms River to Philly. That company needs to be held accountable in detail and itemize that charge, Pilot, crew, Air Time, Fuel, EMS personnel/nurses/doctors, any medications, Iv's etc etc etc.

I did some googling this morning and stumbled across this extremely interesting bit of information: "The real cost of providing air transport averages about $7,000, according to Jon Hanlon, founder of Research 360. And analysis by New Mexico’s Office of Superintendent of Insurance put the cost at an average of about $10,000.Rick Sherlock, president and CEO of the Association of Air Medical Services, a trade group, says that many air-ambulance patients are on Medicare or Medicaid, and that those programs pay $200 to $6,000 per transport. So, Sherlock says, air-ambulance operators must collect more from people with private insurance to make up the difference.
As a result, patients who are privately insured are often stuck in the middle, paying the price for a dysfunctional system they have little control over."

Not to change the subject of the thread but uninsured equals unfair in the medical field. I went thru heart attacks and subsequent open heart surgery without insurance. I was very fortunate to have had my care provided by St Francis Hospital which is run by nuns. They have a program called Sisters' Charities for uninsured which is sometimes able to help considerably. Just the hospital bill alone for a 59 hour stay was about $80,000. (this was 15 years ago) Medicare and insurance have made it necessary for the hospitals to charge well above reasonable amounts to make up for discounts Medicare and insurance companies get. Problem is without the insurance we normal folks have to pay the inflated prices. During my arguments with the various billing agents I was told I didn't understand bulk discounts (even though I was a manufacturer for 30+ years) and that was why there was such a difference. It's also why there are so many medical bankruptcies. Some of my stuff took over a year to get worked out and created stress which my doctor told me to avoid at all costs. Tough deal for sure for anyone involved in such a situation.

Medical cost is so messed up it aint funny. Recent had a shin wound (tripped and fell against my back stairs) and it got infected. Some doc visits, and more the wound clinic (where my reg doc works 2 days a week). More there, but still waiting bill info. On Medicare now and work INS, but work not on full supplemental (will be this coming year) so get nothing from them but med/pills cost cheap. Doc has so far last years never billed me anything past what Medicare paid. Not like my last doc who billed me full after what M/C payed.
Anyway, sample last few visits (simple office) cost. I just went in the hospital for a Vascular ultrasound both legs (getting little blood flow to left foot, same side wound) and I KNOW that will be expensive, as about 10 years ago went in a simple one side neck ultrasound vessels. 15 minutes and out Cost..$800! This time on the table 2 1/2 hours.
    Last few visits..
