Prayers sent (as daily the updates I get through Bud and Go fund me). Improvements how ever seem small, are a blessing! Hopefully on the mend, and yes, it will take time. Stay strong, believe in your God and the wonderful doctors. You kids were put in a terrible situation, but God will not give you more than you can handle. Wishing the best you and Megan...Robby....

I have to add here about Doctors, as Nurses. Many "think" the Vietnam war (as Korea) were useless wars, many lives lost. Agree as was in Nam 50 years ago. Yes, over 57,539 on the Nam Wall (too many friends) killed there now names in Marble. But many don't realize the contribution to the Medical knowledge gained working the wounded. They don't call it "Medical Practice" for nothing as its a learning experience real life. The knowledge gained real situations, and what to do was greatly improved. The knowledge gained has SAVED more than anyone think. The Doctors, Nurses (we called them "Round Eyes, as Americans) were the MOST DEDICATED caring people EVER met! Even if had to as "**** happens war". And continues today. Have a HS friend girl friend thats a ER nurse, and the stuff she see's? I don't know how they handle it, but they do, and damn good at it
Thoughts of Megan as I KNOW is getting the BEST CARE available. "Damn the torpedo's"..we gotta fix this kid! And they will as caring.
A little about Nam..
Injured veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars can give credit to the medical personnel of earlier wars, including the Vietnam War, for their care and recovery.
Surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other staff advanced medical practices for soldiers receiving care in the areas of trauma care and blood supply, repair of blood vessels to save limbs, and studying the effects of a range of weapons.
The contributions of medical personnel improved the outcomes of those wounded not only in Vietnam, but also subsequent wars.
A technique in trauma care in the use of topical antimicrobial chemotherapy for the care of burns and other wounds was available for the first time in the theater of operations.
Another practice that evolved during the Vietnam War was the use of universal donor, or Type O, blood banks in various stations throughout Vietnam.
Techniques that were developed during World War II and the Korean War greatly reduced the need for amputations in the field by tying the major artery to the affected limb.
The improvements in emergency responses and trauma care techniques that were developed during the Vietnam War are still relevant now.

I’ve been keeping my hopes, prayers, and thoughts focused on Megan’s recovery. Like @rock Randy said, this is something that would be impossible to understand unless, and unfortunately, somebody goes through this heartbreaking battle. We are all here for Megan, you, and your family.
I added this post to the front page of this site to give it more reach. If if there’s anything that I can do to help make this situation any easier, please know that I’m always here to help in any capacity. Day or night, anytime, please call me. 239-297-4264.

this sadly happens too often to 20 to 35 yr old adults. my wife was a ER director for 30 yrs and saw 2-3 young adults suffer this issue per yrs. normaly you guys and ladys need and must require medical tests at least every other yr. you must have heart test every 5 yrs. im not a doctor [just a material engr] but i dont want to loose any more of you or see this happen again.
my son lost a very good friend at 31 [a boy that i coached for 15 yrs in baseball] to a major heart attack. .
this also goes for us older folks. i had a 95% blockage at 65yrs and almost didnt find it. my 65 yr old cousin had the same blockage and died of that blockage. please get a stress test regularly after 55 or so.
this is very hard for me to write so dont let any more of you have these issues
Best wishes on Megan’s recovery

The pictures of Megan with Murphy brought tears to my eyes. SO happy with her progress. Our prayers still going out all the time. I won't watch the NFL either.

As a father I can't even imagine the torment this has been for you and your wife let alone your daughter. I am relieved to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sending prayers for your family.

Mike, I assume that Megan is spending a lot of time getting much-needed rest. If you want, just PM or text me your address and I'll send Megan one of the Fire Android tablets that I was going to use for a giveaway here. Maybe some Netflix or YouTube while in bed would make things just a little bit easier for her.
