225 Promax lower question
What size gears came standard on a 97’ 225 Promax 20” bass mid with a Sportmaster? We’re both 1.75 and 1.87 optional or only came 1.87?
Also, what would the differences be between the two? I understand the rotation difference but can’t that be fixed with a different pitch prop?
Thank you all for your time.

I had 2 1.75's that didnt have 1.75 stamped in em,promax was all 1.87 race division 200xs had choice in around 05 and maybe some 225x,both my 1.75's came off 200xs, alot of early promax had cle and then TM all 1.87 in both cases, the few with sportys had 1.87, i dont think 1.75' s became available til long after 225 laser motors became downdraft motorola electrics, x and xs motors

What would be the difference between running 1.75 and 1.87 gear cases with a promax? Couldn't you offset by using a different size prop? What will be different?

Yes a prop can offset the gear but it really all depends on the application. A lightweight rig with a higher pitch prop reduces rpm at WOT and visa versa. The problem with the 1.75 with a 2.5L motor is reduced torque needed for a heavier rig. Again it all depends on the application.
