Six Hour Race in Kissimmee
13 years earlier: Craig Dewald drove the first two hours, and I drove the last four. We set the one. two and six hour records with a Merc 400 44ci engine. Pretty rough race. The last 4 hours I broke down 4 times. First the left front steering pulley pulled apart. I tied it back with rope. Then the swivel pin broke, tied more rope around it, finally the front control box bolt sheared in half. I had to prop it up with my knee while in a kneel down. Last lap my tank went dry, had to switch to the other dry one to get enough gas to cross the finish line. We won. When we got the boat on the trailer the rope around the exhaust housing broke and the engine looked like it would fall off the boat. Mr K came by , looked at it and smiled, told us good job boys.
