2007 Hydrostream Vegas / Opti 250xs / Hydro Jacker short set back / 28 Trophy

New to me Hydrostream. It's a ski model so it has the bow gas tank.

I've read about this setup with a Mazco 28 but can't seem to find any info on this combination with the Trophy prop. The Trophy I got with the boat needs to be reconditioned so I thought before I went to the expense I'd see what Scream and Fly readers thought.

Did you pick up the boat that was in Houston area?

I haven't had a chance (and won't until next summer now) to test out anything but the 26" trophy that came on my boat.

81 with a 2.5xs, 6" set back, just above the pad.

Based on the numbers I read for my particular engine I expected a little more RPM with that prop (I am about 3-400 rpm below the limiter) compared to what others are turning.

Anyway, I found the boat handles best with the prop buried (1.5-2" below the pad, but then I top out at 70-72ish) or dead even/slightly above (80-81ish), in the 1.5 (ish) to 0 range it seems to porpoise more at lower speeds and still runs low 70's on top.

8-10" setback seems to be the sweet spot, I have 6", my motor is a little heavier than most of the vegas out there with 8-10" and a lighter 2.5. I want to try adding 2" more setback next summer.
