jus me but if it runs good as is I "might" bump compression a little, maybe some good reeds but that's it.. some might suggest a 7 petal front... will lose a little bottom end grunt but may/may not gain a coupla mph.. lotsa guys might wanna do a few other things but without goin inside ya not gonna get much dollar for dollar.....
maximizing set up.. offset, height, prop stuff, well tuned with good workin' carbs, 'lectronics will do more good than anything ya do to tha motor.. keep it healthy and trade for 2.5 motor later..
jmo...…….Last edited by tlwjkw; 10-07-2018 at 03:17 PM.

Cut heads to 33cc rejet some good carbs ,wh20s,22s,31s,46s, and fine tune setup. And it will b a strong motor if everything is healthy and firing on all 6. The little 2fo isnt to b took lightly , just not as sought after cause chrome cyl dosent leave many options for mods unless spending lots $ on resleeving all 6. Goid motors tho imo

A set of 2.0 heads will bump a 2.4 up to 140 psi. While you're scavenging 2.0 parts grab an exhaust divider. It will stuff the exhaust chest some. Really helps if you do some grinding in the chest...

Thanks guys, I will stew on this a bit. I may sell it the engine and get a 2.5. Not to knock the 2.4 just seems like there are a lot more options and possibilities with the 2.5. Then again I may mill or switch the heads as suggested, install new reeds, and rejet her and see how she does...you have heard about the lil engine that could

This is the widest shot I have right now. I can get a wider view later today. Here is a shot of the carb, the engine, and the boat outside. I went with the 2.4L. I like the chrome sleeves with not yet hopping the engine up. Seems to make for a reliable tough engine. I am just going with new reeds for now. I have the 97 Merc sold and made some profit for other projects on the boat itself. I will see how she runs this summer and go from there. I.E. upgrade to a newer engine and or modify this one to see what I can get out of her...if she is not snappy enough. I did upgrade to the newer cowl and decals which took a little work to make it fit. I am happy with the appearance and when I started the engine on Thursday she sounded great! Cannot wait to see how she does in the river next spring. Next is the nose cone, interior and and gauges. I think she will be a looker! Man I love the bruiser blue!

Yep that's a nice ride!! The 2.4 will do good, if your doing reeds (chris carson) go ahead and get stuffers. Will help on bottom end. I'm guessing u should be in the 80s mph,,gi e or take , maybe more with a dead nuts set up

Thank you, and thats right where I would love to be. In a prop I was thinking of a Drag 4 28P. I had a worked Drag 4 on my checkmate and loved how it came out of the hole, accelerated, the top end, and how I could cruise at a lower RPM and improve fuel efficiency. Any input into the 28P thought?

Another vote for a chopper. Never seen the need for a 4 blade on small bote like a Stream. A 27 or 29 SRX is another good choice and they can be had for around $300 fairly regularly.

The 4 blade mite help with handling, idk never owned a stream but it's my next big purchase, I'd try one of the mentioned 1st unless your more of a cruiser then 4 blade mite b ur thing. Still good performance

Thanks for the input guys. With my old stream the tree blade choppers just seem to blowout so bad out of the hole. After that it would grab and go. With the worked Drag 4 on my Checkmate I could get a nice hole shot plus she would grab and go. Now I may have lost a few on the top end but I love the acceleration. Heck I could even pull a slalom skier from a deep water start...as long as they weren't too big of a person and I only had a spotter. Yet my experience with a three vs a four blade over the hub is skewed. Due to the three blade was on a Viking while the four was on a heavier Checkmate.
