Damn Joe, too much aint good enough? Impressed! My buddy "Chic" with his bikes. Sad though as a couple years back, was out with the boys morning ride. Home for lunch, and had tennis match at 3. Well he didn't show, and they went to his house. Moto GP racing on the tube, and he passed in his sleep on the couch..RIP old friend...

Good looking BEAST! Know what ya mean in the frame mount fairing. Had a fork mount Batwing on mine. But after so many damn road miles, started getting detents in fork bearings. Too much wandering. Over winter, took the whole front end off. DAMN and CAN I SAY PITA! Funny (kinda) too as it was up on blocks, jacks. Well we get a damn good earthquake one afternoon, and afraid to open the shop door! It was still standing, but fast put a fold out 8 foot ladder over it, strapped up if any after shocks! Its always something!

Back a kid HS, after the minis, Vespas, Cushmans, bought a new 65 Super 90, money made working the gas station. Well soon a friend mine found (we were only 15) a 47 Knuckle original, covered in dust a widow was selling for $150. He had a 650 57 Trump basket case that I bought for $100. Put it together my dads basement Too it too the dragstrip, and took first place in class (had to run modified as no chain guard!). 15.9 at 99 mph! Two pix. First done then second later. Sold it when went Service and Nam. $300.

So after service, bunch us Vets rented a house. Billy had a 650 BSA, that he stripped and bought a old school (well new then) chopper/springer frame to build. So hes got this 6 over front end laying there. Say want it? Nope. Well I had a 305 Scrambler, and tried it. Damn worked! (Doin't worry, muffler came off and "Snuff or Nots!)

You and I are a lot alike with our fascination of bikes. Some of my best memories are on the ice (614 rotax in a knight frame and my KX 500 with a gpz rear uni-link swap) are the ice toys in the picture. You can see a picture of my garage a few years back when my sickness was at its peak (I think I had 23 bikes in the stable-too many to keep batteries in). My wife has a VFR just like your buddies. I spend most of my time on the bmw now and use the ducati as my errand mule. Another great jap sport touring bike is the Kawi Concours and you can pick them up on the cheap.
Its funny how we are cut from a similar cloth...

There is nothing more precise then German engineering. The new K1600B is my favorite bike of the moment. One of those 1200s would be cool if I lived in another part of country but for me the only elevation changes are an hour away and all of our roads seem to be shot with a laser. That thing would be some serious fun on the dirt roads around Sturgis or taking a trip through Colorado.

10-14-2018, 12:44 PM #74I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
