Megan Update as of : 10/6/18 1pm- The latest update for Megan.. they took the triple lumen out today. She is having her IV's restarted. Currently she is running a high temperature but her white count is good. They just did a chest x-ray and we are awaiting those results to see if the pneumonia has cleared yet. Blood cultures and lab work done and awaiting results. They will no implant the new pacemaker/defib until this has cleared.

Magan Update as of: 10/10/18 3pm- Good news to report today!!! To update over the last few days. Megan has had a bronchoscopy and had her trach tube reduced to a smaller size. Her Cardiologists feel that the initial issue was caused by a cardiac event and may have been tied to a reaction to a new medication prescribed a few weeks ago. At this time, they do not feel that it is warranted to place a new pacemaker/defibrillator so there is nothing more for Temple to do. She is running a slight fever today, but they are hoping for a discharge within the next few days. At that point, she will be moved to a Rehab Hospital closer to home. We will still continue to restrict visitors to immediate family only, until she is strong enough to take on the tons of people wanting to visit her! She is starting to react to Deb and Mike (but who wants to wake up to their parents!?!? LOL), and is trying to speak. So far, she is already working with a speech therapist and managed to get out a "Hi!".

Mwgans Update as of 10/12/18 6pm- The news seems to be getting progressively better!! Physical therapists have already started working with Megan. Yesterday they had her sitting up on the bed while supporting her. They also stood her up briefly and she was able to bear most of her own weight. Today she was discharged from Temple University and moved to a Rehab facility. She is not even close to being ready for visitors, so at this time we are choosing to not disclose the location of this facility. During the move we were even able to arrange a quick visit from Murphy!! His kisses brought a smile to her face (sshhh, don't tell the Doctors!).

She still has a very long road ahead of her and although we are expecting some setbacks along the way, the progress she has made within the past month has been unbelievable, considering her condition 4 weeks ago!! We thank everyone for their continued thoughts, prayers and positive comments as they are definitely working. The tremendous amount of concern everyone has expressed has been overwhelming. To date, this GFM page has been shared 4357 times and has been viewed 47512 times!! We cannot thank everyone enough!!

Megan Update as of: 10/16/18 6:30pm- OK, here is the latest on Meg!! So far, it looks like she continues to have more good days than bad. She has been moved a rehab hospital closer to home. Currently, she is still not ready for visitors, so the family does not wish to reveal the location at this time. She is settling into the routine at the Rehab and they have begun working her hard. Megan has started with Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. Today, her tremors seem to be a little worse than usual, to the point of being painful. They are finding that her long-term memory appears to be intact. However, her short-term memory still appears to be the area of damage. She is responding to family with frequent smiles and at times we can get her to laugh!! Her ‘loving’ sister, Michele, took this selfie earlier today, which I am sure Megan will seek revenge on all of us for allowing it to get posted, once she recovers. We are hoping they will look to remove the trach soon, however in the meantime they have covered it with a valve, so she can try to speak.

Just a FYI ScreamandFly Family. The VODBA (Virginia Outlaw Drag Boat Association) Final Race for 2018 is approaching FAST!!! We would love to Raffle the Benelli Supernova Shotgun at the race to benefit the Megan Franzoso Fund. But like the tickets read "Winner will be drawn after 100 tickets are sold". So far Screamandfly members have purchased a total of 6 tickets??? This membership is over 30k strong with just over 10k being active every week. Yet this thread alone has been visited by 2743 members with 70 comments. There are two other threads that are related to this matter and they have been visited a total of 3304 times with 81 comments. Thats a total of 6046 visits and 132 comments. Yet out of over 6000 visits and 132 comments This family cant do any better than to purchase 6 tickets @20.00 each for a chance to win a $800.00 Shotgun with Case???????

Megan Update as of 10/21/2018 As most know Megan has been moved to a rehab facility closer to home 10 minutes vs 1 1/2 hrs. While she still has her feed tube in and the Trake She has better arm mobility, Smiling alot and tries to laugh even though she sounds like a Goose because of the Trake. Yesterday she walked about 70 feet so she is making baby step progress. There was a benefit Spaghetti Dinner yesterday at one of the EMS branches. A group of 50 Bikers from a local club showed up and ate. The Benefit raised about 8k.

A More detailed Megan Update: 10/22/18 9pm- We continue to have good news to report. Megan continues to make forward progress. The staff at the Rehab Hospital have actually gotten her to begin walking, with assistance and a walker. It is unbelievable to think where we were about 5 weeks ago and how far she has come. Although she still cannot speak, she attempts to spell things out using a sign board, pointing to letters. We are able to get her to smile a lot, even laughing occasionally (usually as we make fun of her mother!! Sorry Deb!). Today, Megan created a bit of panic with the nursing staff as she decided to pull out her tracheotomy tube on her own! Until they realized that she was in no distress and quite entertained by all the activity, the decided to leave it out (they were planning to pull it this week anyway).

On a side note, yesterday's Spaghetti Dinner was a huge success. The family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to Berkeley PBA and their EMT's for hosting the event and a special thanks to Zach Kolas for leading the charge to organize this amazing event. The number of local businesses that have donated prizes to be auctioned off, has been amazing.
