Seebold ski eagle 300 promax - weight

I've been running my ski eagle with a 225 Super Magnum. It's been running pretty good. Seeing mid 80s with 2 people. I've been running a 28 Hill Eagle 4 blade. The boat has an 8 inch bracket and 4 inch jack plate for 12 inches of setback. None of the others I've seen have so much set back.

I bought a 300 promax (Not X) and plan to try it out. Its a decent amount heavier so i was wondering if I should consider taking the 8 inch bracket off for less setback. The motor has a 1.75 sportmaster and I plan to try a 30 and 32. I'm keeping my 225 for the time being until i see if the boat handles the heavier motor ok. Appreciate any advice.

Personally, I would recommend taking the setback bracket off. We set two of these boats up with 200 XP Evinrudes back in the 80s flat on the transom and they carried the boat fairly well.
