Allison clone, 14 feet and 3 inch made by Bo's Propeller in Port Vincent, La.

I do not know how to include pictures on this ad. Maybe someone will help me with this. This boat has an in line 6 Mercury 150 horse power and a trailer. I have owned this boat for 6 weeks. I have tried to find help getting the correct prop for this boat. I am completely fed up with this boat. I have never owned a boat like this before. I can and will send pics to anyone by email... ccd1q2@yahoo.com. Chuck

    Chuck,

Don't give up there are a whole bunch of people here that will give advice and or help you out. I raced Allison and Checkmate V-hulls back in the 70's. I assume you have a short shaft 150 on there. If it is we used to run 14x28 two and now 3 blade stainless props on them then. If you have a long shaft you will still have a 14 diameter but considerably less pitch. If that is the case you can probably use the existing bolt holes and the engine should have more holes on the bracket that would allow you to raise it a few inches and still be able to get cooling water from your lower unit. For now try it like it is already set up and go from there.

On our old race boats to top of the hub on the prop was even with the bottom of the vee on the back of the boat. There should be some used props in the props for sale section if you figure out what you need and put a request there what your looking for.

I have a MX16 Checkmate with a 150 blackmax and got a great Laser II prop from this site as well as one for my 18 Donzi I posted a request for last week.

Put your engine down and level with the electric trim if you have it or pin in the trim holes on your transom bracket. Put a 3-4 ft straight edge flat right on the bottom of your Vee at the lowest point and see where it comes on your engine lower unit. If the big flat plate (Cavitation Plate) above the prop is below or even with that straight edge you most likely have a long shaft. If any part of the Prop comes above the straight edge your engine could still be a long shaft raised on your transom or your have a short shaft. Either way post your findings and it will help to figure out what prop might work best for you.

Good luck. That boat should fly being a 14 with that horsepower. Make sure to wear a lanyard kill switch when you get it going as it will be a 60 mph plus boat and if you do not have center steering might chin walk and scare you even with center steering.

    Cap.
