Usually a thru hub prop will allow the least amount of porpoise. Can you look at the bottom surface and see a convex shape along the hulls? Most cats use a tunnel tab set up...That may be what you need.

yes can't figure out a brand for the tunnel tabs. I did find that one of the running surfaces is a rocker, so I'll start there. Thanks Eric

Have a big fixed tab made? Could be made with turnbuckles for setting at needed angle. Wet when running slow. Dry when up and running fast. Some of the cats have them. I don't know a lot about them. But, I also would like to know the best way to go. May have a cat in my future.

I agree most of the cougars that are sorted out have fixed tabs on them. Just looking for a brand or manufacture.

    23 MTR Cougar

    EBoesch
I have a 22MTR with twin 300Xs rigged from the factory that has fixed tunnel tabs. It does not porpoise but the gas tanks are mounted much further forward than the 2 previous 22s I had with single 300Xs on them. I don't have any experience with the 23MTRs other than some comments that were made on here by some owners of them. You might try contacting Esox4130 on here as Steve had a twin 2.5 23MTR that ran very well and I think his father had one with twin 300 ProMaxes on it. He may be able to shed some light on it. I would think that adding some weight in the bow should help as well.
    Thanks
    Gary

Issue is the boat was built in Kansas and it does not have proper layup heavy built boats that some were bow heavy some port or starboard heavy none were ever built right from start in Kansas they were all trial & air boats rolled over on them when sea trials performed they got blank molds that's it and had no prints or layup schedules or clues what thickness of materials to use so that has a lot to do with handling of boat the Kansas boats do not hang in the air or pack air very well and when they do very very unpredictable what they will do but whould not want to be in one at high speeds something is going to happen as they are unpredictable they porpoise sometimes to point they are out of control built in Kansas had nothing to do with Canadian c ougars which were high quality boats built by Tom one can tell is your vin# ZCZ WILL BE FIRST SET OF THREE LETTERS in vin whould have been built by cougar Tom in canada

Can U post photos of yours? A while back another person here had a bad experience with one of their builds? Maybe that person will chime in?

That's the one from the old guy in MN right? It was supposedly built by a reputable builder for the guy that had the molds at the time. The guy that owns the molds now know just about everything about cougars and is willing to talk. I think he is on the east side of the US. I water tested that boat with cash in hand, couldn't make a deal on it.Click image for larger version.

I remember it porpoised at low speeds, like to low. I could have lived with it at 50-70, but if you wanted to cruise slow or slow down and turn it didn't feel like I was going to be in love with it.

I remember you telling me about that boat. I saw the 21, 22, 23 and 27MTR molds for sale on Craig's List back in the spring advertised I think in Lake Havasu for $44,000 if my memory serves me correctly. The newest Cougar that I have ever seen advertised for sale was a 2010 27MTR that has never been rigged. Maybe somebody will chime in with more info.
    Thanks
    Gary

Molds are molds with no lay up schedule or patterns no figures one is going at it blind and total joke when one says guy knows a lot about them only one that knows the real truth on building them is cougar Tom in salmon arm bc and the molds were bought out from under guy in havasu which is long story and Mr Craig has no clue but was the guy who bought molds to burn tony Poore and get molds away for Burnie shumate which cash was paid to bank six for four molds less then $25,000 so little bit of profit for large koi ponds
