So I was sitting in this class where the teacher was giving us good info and showing us pics of his work, when he walked out and didn't come back..... Maybe he didnt want to give up all his secrets?.
He never did tell us what kind of h.p. he could get out of a 3.0L pump gas 225-250 efi.

Some days I gotta keeps the lights on ...
Other days I make stuff for my boat ..
When I can , I like to hang out here ...
I don't own a dyno so I don't quote HP numbers . I own a few test wheels , EGT and O2 sensors that I feel are pretty accurate . But I've spent enough time in both DTS and SuperFlow equipped cells that it's Model T to Ferrari F-1 in data acquisition.
Secrets ? I said my favorite model was the 2002 and up EFI because it shared many components with the 300x . The things that were different , I have easily changed , machined and or are making aftermarket parts to replace the stock 300x parts.
And have kits to make them 500 and 600 cc larger .
It's no secret ? I haven't tried every conceivable combination . Mostly the one's I have posted give you the most noticeable torque production for the money spent. Add this that does nothing , take that away that helps a lot ... Let us know
Anyway ... the guy that started the thread . That was looking to step up ... did he ever get his to run as good as a stocker yet .. ?

Chaz I went back and rechecked the fuel pressure and it tests out at 40 psi. The previous owner appears to have cut additional holes in the attenuator. My son is a diesel tech and says there is a part missing on the attenuator that a vacuum line likely went in to. He feels an incorrect vacuum reading could keep the ecm from allowing full rpm range. Is that a possibilty as everything else seems to check out.

An attennannauuannttteerrr is part of a git-tar or an amplifier isn't it .. ?
If you mean the plastic cover apparatus above the flywheel , there is a vent line from the VST tank that goes in there . But it has nothing to do with how the engine runs. Other than block airflow to the throttle body ....

Ha ha that's what I thought too when I saw that. Wondering how to set the reverb and tremolo on it to make my outboard harmonize better lol. Any way that's what the parts listings called it. There were 2 additional holes cut in this thing and just wondered about it or at least my son did. Well everything from the tank to fuel pressure checks out good but is still only good for 5200 rpm. Not sure what to do next. I'm almost to the point to where if I start the mods that I will cover what ails it eventually.

You've got to hit 8,000 RPMs before it will harmonize better.

No they all look the same. #5 was until I changed out the coil and now it's no different than the rest. The contact point for the roller on the throttle cam is about 1/4" from the end. Is that close enough?

No , just wondering if maybe you still had an electrical issue or a hung injector .
I don't understand .. @ idle the roller should nestle in the corner with aprox .005 clearance between the wheel and the cam and show a TPS reading between .4 and 1.3 volts . At WOT you should see 4 to 4.7 volts ... not a lot more to that deal ..

And of the readings are off? Does that mean a new TPS?

Pretty rare to see one go bad . And the range of voltage is pretty wide on both open and close .
But if all the rubber mounting grommets are in place , the cam /follower wheel and the throttle arm stop bolts are adjusted properly . It's being fed 5v from the PCM and it not returning the spec'd numbers back .. then yes it would be bad .

So it's just the PCMs way of knowing where the throttle is. I can see that. I'm going to look this thing over again and if I can't get a handle on or I guess it's time to get it diagnosed by a tech.

TPS readings were 0.27 at idle and 3.94 at WOT. After adjustment it reads 0.53 at idle and 4.52 at WOT. Could this be the problem?
