How to get 12-15% better fuel economy without any costs :) :)

    Hi,

I experienced something weird the other day...

I have a Phantom 25 with a 400R. Last week I removed the vent plugs on my Max5 25 picth propeller. They are as we all know meant to give better holeshot. However, they also add a little more slip through the rpms.

I lost some speed between 2,000-3,000. Between 4,000-5,000 rpms, the speed loss was maybe 0,5 mph. However, I got 150 rpms on top and got the magic 7,000 plus rpms on my 400R. The engine need 7,000 rpms to give full power, so its a win win situation. The top speed increased from 86,7 mph to 87,7 mph.

The surprise came in the fuel consumption department. Before the engine consumed 11 gallons per our at 4,000 rpms. Top speed was 50 mph. Now the engine used 9,6 gallon at 4,000 rpms. Speed 49,5 mph ... At 3,500 rpms the engine used 7 gallon and speed 43 mph. Amazing results ....

    Worth a try !

    Cheeers, Toffen

Hi, heaven knows. Everytime I checked the fuelmilage before its been 4,45 MPG at 4,000 rpms. Now its 5,15 MPG. I have been told it can be due to less back pressure in the exhaust. Its no cost to try. Ha ha Cheeers, Toffen

Ok, next time out, run it without the vent plugs then stop and put the vent plugs back in..... you should see it immediately if it's true or not
