500 lb motor on a vector?

Anybody hang a 500lb motor on a vector? Did it want to sink? Would you do it again? Handling bad? New high horse power motors are so heavy.

Should be fine as long as you use at least 12" of setback...

IMO the heavier the engine the less setback needed. I have run 505# optis on my V-King with no issues.

    Yeah, I was joking...

500lbs on a Vector is probably pretty questionable to begin with with NO setback. I don't think they handle weight as well as a Viking/V-King.

Speaking of 505#s on a V-KING, how would you like to have one of those new 300 Merc V8s on yours? It's about 500# isn't it?

You think that's a good choice or not?

It would be interesting capt...But the V-Kings will handle anything you can bolt on it. As long as you have the nads to drive it.

Vectors handle like ass with normal weight V6s on them, I wouldn't mess with anything heavier.

I’m certain I don’t have the nads yet. With the reported torque of that V8, it would have to be an upset-event every time you pressed the gas peddle on a little V-King!

Vectors are very sensitive to weight on the transom, stay with a 2.5 at about 375lbs.
