This is what is written on the add
"I have a nice EFI 2.4 Mercury Motor for sale. I bought the boat with intentions on replacing the motor because the boat is not rated for this size motor. Motor runs/idles great, but is not set up right. It seems to run rich. Previous owner had it installed to replace his original carbed motor and it has not been right since. From what I have been told the fuel tank needs to have a spot for a return fuel line for the EFI and it doesn't which is causing the motor to run rich. I don't know much more about it than that, so please don't ask a bunch of technical questions. Motor will come complete with ECU and a lower unit that has been recently gone through with new seals. $3000 cash, no trades. Located in Rhinelander, WI. Please text 7onefive3six07five8two if interested. Thanks"

Has 1 piece heads , so that down draft isnt correct for the motor.

Plus the motor has no TPI in the port side.

That analog box needs a tpi to run right.

So is its a 2.4 Bridgeport that he stuck injection on? I just thought it was a interesting add, in this day and age, to find someone who is selling something that they claim to have no idea of what they have.

If the cylinders are coated and in good shape, with good compression, would be a decent project for someone that knew them. Downdrafts are cool, too. If it's a mutt that's been resleeved however, meh. Hard pass from me. If you've ever looked for info on these things its non-existent, other than here and a few other sites, and all of them are a pain in the ass to search if you don't know the lingo.
The add seems to indicate the previous owner thought he was going to have a bad ass motor, built it right, then got in over his head on the EFI side and gave up on it.> Stainless steel Merc cowling plates - $110 shipped TYD - LINK <

Bridgeports were injected in the 1980's, early 90's. Updraft motors were in the early 80's and the cowl is correct for an early 80's motor but the decals are completely unoriginal. Would be nice to see the gearcase. Could be a newer short block with older electronics and intake?

when i read the add, this is what I was thinking, just a little too much of a cool barn find to be true. My Pro Max had the same story to it. the shop did just enough so the guy could sell it. I spent the money and had Nick rebuild it. so its a keeper now.
