2019 Talon Powerboats "Talon Turnout" Event
Hello everyone.
While the crew at Talon Powerboats has been busy building boats and our new models, we are also starting to put together some details and plans for sponsoring our inaugural “Talon Turnout ” event for 2019(and annually). Creating a venue for Talon owners and customer enthusiasts (naturally, all are welcome) to gather, meet and to continue to grow the Talon Powerboats community and friendships. Selfishly, this will also give Talon owners the opportunity to show off their hardware, showcase some of our new Talon Powerboats models and latest builds, bench race and just plain have a good time with boats. So, we wanted to get the word out now as well as both 1) gauge interest, and 2) gather and formulate ideas.
Initial thinking for next years event:
Location/Venue -being an east coast builder...likely central/eastern half of the US, to make it as convenient as possible for most. Maybe Dale Hollow, Lake Norris or even slide slightly further east to Lake Norman.
Dates- thinking late July or early August. Maximize chance for good weather.
Duration - 2 day event...Saturday/Sunday, with Friday evening arrivals available to maximize time on Water.
Fund Raising - would like to identify and sponsor a charity (eg. St. Jude’s, Make-a-Wish) for the event...with 100% of the profits going to that charity.
Host Fun Run on one of the days, with Talon Powerboats sponsored dinner/party Saturday evening.
Lodging -Pre-negotiate rates/packages with a few hotels/Marina’s
Prizes/Giveaways- In addition to Talon Powerboats helping fund/sponsor as much as we can as well as give away general swag, I am working with an insurance company to put together a “win a brand new Talon” prize (think hole-in-one giveaway)!!! Additionally, we are also working with our partners to also help sponsor the event as well (swag, food, drinks, etc).
Please let us know your thoughts, ideas and any recommendations. We have some time, however booking venue a year in advance is common. We will keep the community updated (via screamandfly, and our FB page at http://www.facebook.com/talonpowerboat) as we tighten up details over the fall/winter.... and we look forward to making it a great event and seeing everyone then.
Thank you.

Dean, there is a Fun Run this next coming weekend on Lake Norman if you wanted to participate to see how it could work on Norman? Boats will be arriving Thursday/Friday, the run will start Saturday AM. If your interested you have my contact. I am not saying to combine as I think we have a pretty big crowd for this event already, as well as some pretty big boats. But it would be for you to see the possibilities?!?!?

This sounds great. The further south the better but that’s just me being selfish. To Steve’s point, you need to see what events are already scheduled so you don’t run into situations with crowds, especially lakes like Norman that have a lot of bigger boats that come in for events.
IMHO lakes with marinas and resorts would be better than many of the lakes where the hotels are remote from the lake / ramps. I don’t know enough about the lakes in the TN, NC, SC, GA area to make a recommendation but I’m looking forward to whatever you come up with.Mark

There are not any hotels to speak of right on Norman. Lot of VRBO possibilities though. Not sure about the other lakes in the South mid South

Completely agree gents... and were working to balance our Talon date against other events to ensure we don’t overlap. Also fully agree too on the venue having “on water” lodging, vs having to stay miles away. Will definitely narrow down to a short-list for voting before locking anything down..maybe throw SC in the mix too(Keowee or Murray). Steve, would love to connect with you on the Lake Norman recommendations/connections.

Another thing to think about is do a Talon event on a Friday on a lake like Norman/Murray/wherever (thinking lakes with some good distance for runs), so the traffic is less, Party Friday night, then a just a fun hang out event on Saturday at local hangout spots on the same lake? Ron (double rigged) could give his experience of a Friday vs a w/e day on Norman

Talon Powerboats is super excited to sponsor and launching our annual (2019) Talon Throwdown! This is a exciting venue for Talon owners, customers and enthusiasts (all are welcome) to gather, meet and continue to grow the Talon Powerboats community. Wewantedtohold the event in the mid-atlantic area in effort to make it as geographically convenient as possible for folks to attend and are honing in on Lake Oconee, Georgia. Lake Ocnoee provides a great location, has a wide range of amenities (restaurants, bars, marinas, etc), and accommodations including the Lodge at Lake Oconee, Ritz Carlton which are both on the water, aswellas a wide range of airBnB and VRBO options(we plan to block a set of rooms at the Lodge at Lake Oconee).
