Little boats in Rough Water - VIDEO
Hey all -
So we took my dad's brand new whaler restoration out for it's maiden voyage earlier this week, and it was a little sloppy out int he bay. I had never taken my tunnel hull in choppy water before but WOW did it handle well!
With a 21p prop, and about 5000-5200 rpm it was going about 50 in the slop.
The prop shaft is even with the bottom of the sponsons, and I definately need to raise it up some.
Anyway - Just a little 13' boat playing in some slop - - - Enjoy.
PS - none of these videos were of the 50+mph run - I didn't get that balsy until the end of the afternoon. I may have gone 65+ upwards around 5500-5600rpm.
The RPMs were all over as I was jumping out of the water and all.
Anyway - enjoy...

Cool
So much for the naysayers that it's too stern heavy, won't layout.

I bet that tunnel had a way better ride than the "slapper" (boston whaler)

Boat looks great!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Looks great! How does it settle down, coming off plane?
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

lol yes it did! It ate up the slop. Surprisingly for a 13’6” Boat. It does have an 8” deep tunnel though.
lol kidney bleeder, the whaler? She’s a 1969 13’ with a 1999 Force 50hp.
Mine has a 115 ProXS
she belly flops after popping up, then torques and twists to the left side until it starts to ride up on the pads. She’s starting to boogey1) 1995 14' Bayliner Restoration <--Click

If it starts to take on water, you're not going fast enough.
The tunnel, so prop choice and adjusting height, weight still to come on a less choppy day?Last edited by FMP; 08-14-2018 at 08:53 AM.
