    all good information, thanks. Looks like it's best to keep it simple, carbs and mixed oil.

    update to this discussion, I got a 1998 2.5L 200 Carb parts motor that is an FF block, complete less lower unit. So i should have all the parts and pieces to install on my 1989 2.4 Mid, correct?

    yes, use adapter plates and tuner off of 2.5. Just curious, why not leave 2.5 on its original mid section?

    well the 98 mid is pretty beat up for one, and my 1989 still looks showroom, no scratches or fading on anything as it's always been in freshwater and garage kept.
    plus on my lake up in Maine, kind of like the sleeper approach
