V8 pro xs ECM?
Has anyone tried re flashing them yet? I'm hoping that the 200, 225 and 250 are capable of 300hp.

I'm not concerned about the R versions. The standard fishing motors cost too much as is.

I asked Simon and he said they haven't gotten their hands on one yet, has anyone with parts catalog access compared heads, cams/valve springs, injectors, throttle body part #s to see if they're the same?

Someone mentioned needing a tech with a computer to test props with the new Mercs? No way I'm paying a merc tech to test props! Could this be true?

Merc Techs - Prop Tests
Merc techs analyze the data from the ECU based on whatever props you want to try. The ECU will remember every prop combination you test. The software will adjust the engine's parameters to make any prop run "perfect" but the data may tell you to try running a higher pitch etc, to optimize fuel economy, etc That's what the Merc tech will be doing.

There is a cavitation control acts like traction control on a car. If the motor senses it the ecu will pull timing and reduce power automatically. My buddy has set up a few v8 now and one on a ranger was limited by this. He said you could trim out feel it adding speed but as soon as it did the ecu would pull power and lose speed. This is something that would have to be turned off in most high performance applications. This was on a 250XS v8 I’m not sure if the 300R has this or not.
