Looking for predictions
What is every bodies prediction for the 300R this spring? Will supply meet demand this spring? If you got jammed up and needed to repower think you'll be able to buy one without ordering a year ahead of time? Went to the NYC boat show Friday and the Merc booth didn't even have one on display. The guy i chatted with (for about 90 seconds) didn't have any answers.

I almost feel like mercury is blind to the outboard market. Let me rephrase that, blind to the regular guys in the outboard market. If your a high roller you can problably have ten 300r by now

Marks86, in your opinion, what exactly is missing from mercury’s lineup?

my Opinion isn’t based on something is missing, more based on the fact that mercury just seemed to have turned into the money hungry company that has outrageous prices and long wait list for the 300R, where as you know DCB already has there hands on a bunch.
lets be honest here if I called mercury today and told them I wanted to order 5 new 1650s but only if I can have 5 300r at the same time. Bet your ass I would be getting those 300r

Of course we all want something more readily available and cheaper, but if they can’t keep up with demand with their current manufacturing capabilities, why on earth would they lower prices? That would only make the shortage worse.

What’s the reason mercury can not produce motors fast enough? Has this been an issue in the past?

I don’t proclaim to know anything for sure, but they did just buy a massive die casting machine and they are die casting most major aluminum parts to save weight, possibly for all new v6 and v8’s. I would imagine that machine is very busy these days.

I can't help think but that the timing of tariffs shortly after the release last year are a contributing factor. I know it caused problems with manufacturers in other industries in my experience and a business is naturally going produce products that are more profitable if resources become limited. It's nothing personal, just economics (supply and demand) is the product worth the patient wait is the question.

It seems like lead times across the board are longer. Our light poles and fixtures at work have doubled in lead time and i was also quoted 20-22 weeks for a medium voltage cabinet which is nuts
