Hopefully the free valve tech will come to outboards, then you would have no cams, tensioners, or timing chain. So save what 80lbs right there? Then you could have the option to run as a two stroke and bingo you have a 4.6l v8 2 stroke with out ring eating ports and no oil injection or mixing. Also you could put in a timing switch and run as a 4 stroke for cruising and better mpg

Any rumors on a 15” mid section, since this motor is so tall I figure a 15” mid would fit nicely on a lot of boats.

Ok, so that right there is an o2 sensor which tells me this engine IS closed loop. Meaning it will do its best to maintain correct A/f ratio with mods to intake and exhaust. Also the shape of the collected exhaust begs for a water cooled turbo, or remove the alternator and put in a procharger. I will 100 percent be putting in an inline a/f recorder and gauges to see where it's at. During run times. They state that they lean out the engine during cruise for better fuel economy so we already know there is tunability built in.

Mercury will control the hp gains in this v8 with good old proven technique bore, stroke ,cams, intake design. So no v10 also why because its cheaper to add higher compression pistons to get 50hp on 90 octane
Did you say you can flash a 200 to make 325? For real? I like the sounds of that. What about rpm what can they live with?

Nothing reasonable about smoking an outboard powerhead.
    Pretty impressive improvement though.

In todays ability to Collect rate of acceleration data
Easy to bring a graph to the table.

The thread below states a 250R actually weighed 564lbs with cowling, has anyone actually weighed a 300R by chance or any new V8?

My local dealer laughed at me today when asking about the new V8's. He said he might see one in 6 months and the price he gave me was very high.

Mercury has me thinking these motors are build to order something like tesla cars. Talked to a guy this week he doesn't get his 250 motor till March 2019 wth. So I suggested calling Jaco marine they advertise having new v8 in stock his reply is I did they don't have any.

They have a lot more demand then they ever anticipated. These motors came out at the same time the economy and consumer confidence hit full boost . The big dealers and manufactures are the first to get them Randy has had 4 of the 300R motors but we are still patiently waiting on the offshore versions to be distributed.
