lifting from the Trailer strap eye's and bow eye?
I just picked up a Yamaha LS2000 Twin engine jet boat and dont want to keep it in the water. Seeing as I have a couple extra boat houses I never used I think this is a perfect time to test them out. I would like to just lift the boat a foot out of the water and just hang it like a tuna till I'm ready to use it.
I would be lifting from the front bow eye and the two re-trailer strap eyes. Approx weight is 2100lbs, but figure 2200lbs as everyone lies about there weight.
I called Yamaha and asked and they have no idea, I will check tonight to see who thick the glass looks and if they have large backer plates installed. .. Just seeing is anyone has done this before?

Yeah, I don't know if there would be any problem with long-term storage; but that's how I hung my HST to weigh it. Had the motor on, fuel in the tank, my fat-a$$ in & out a few times... no issues.

Make sure your transom hooks are solid steel and go all the way thru the transom with nuts on the inside. Some older ones are cast and some are just lag bolts with no nuts.
Also on the bow its better if you can support it by holding the bow like mine and not just solely from the bow hook

Wish I had enough "dough" to just have a couple boat lifts lying around un-used haha.
But to contribute - A wooden boat... I wouldn't do it. A fiberglass boat, as long as it has backing plates... go for it.
However - I would weigh the boat first to make sure it hasn't been water-logged. Any water gets into their foam, it gets heavy. They weren't known to use closed cell foam. Boston Whalers did the same thing.Last edited by home made tunnel; 07-16-2018 at 04:42 PM.

The transom eyes should be strong enough to hold the boat for sure..... look in the front compartment near the bow and see if you can see the bow eye nuts and studs, if so, put a lift eye there if the lift cable will clear the hatch opening..... here's a pic of the kit:
I had put the cleat version on my Baja, but I don't think you can do it on the Yammi because of the bow eye position..... but you could cut the threaded rod short and install it under the seat in that compartment....

You can do what flabum suggested, or simply lift from the bow eye or stern eye(s) as they are, if they are installed properly & you have a large enough rope/line/strap/cable to lift it with. I've lifted a few hundred large boats with simply the existing stainless boats eyes safely. Depending on the stainless eye size, they are from a low, of 17,000 to 51,000 pounds of tensile strenth EACH. You will not break them.

Short term sure, long term not for my boat. If a boat bottom can distort on a roller trailer, it can warp if hung.
