    Real fiberglass expert.

This guy, i'm sure with good intentions is telling you how to do the super strong method. While he has some of the process right, but incomplete. The rest is a mess...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXtXKadbDwI

I made the mistake of pulling up the carpet of my new to me boat....An expert must have done a repair at the stringer/transome.Pounds of cracked resin parting from the original glass, and an equal amount of dry matt in the center of the cracked resin. So not what i wanted to find this time of the season.

That was pretty entertaining. I especially like the cutting wheel being used for grinding. And the way he measured out the resin and MEKP

One of the reply's to the vid asked if he was high...I really got a chuckle out of that....The glass to resin ratio was backwards. 60% resin 40% glass would be my guess. And he had it piled up about 1'' over the surrounding area.

Not sure why you say that but if it's clean and scuffed well it should not have a problem, of course, it's always nice to add a fresh new skin if possible but new resin will stick to old resin fine if prepped properly...

Bottom of the barrell (cheap ortho) resin does have some difficulty adhering to old cured resin. It will delaminate over time. Vinyls and the better polys like the low profile iso's are really needed for laying up over old laminate. Epoxy is king over anything.

    Here is a simple guide..http://www.nzfibreglass.co.nz/2015/i...n%20resins.pdf

Well hopefully mines good, I got it from merrits. But we have been using all poly but we did lay a fresh layer of glass in the whole boat before starting anyways.

You are using at least a low profile iso resin. They don't sell the cheap stuff at merritts. Your good...

Had me curious, took this from their website, seems to be what you said:

GENERAL PURPOSE POLYESTER RESIN – This resin is a low profile, low shrinkage, unsaturated polyester resin designed for room temperature curing with the addition of an MEK Peroxide catalyst. This system features excellent glass wet out without draining. This system has a moderate gel time and fast cure with a good trim time that allows for cures to a rigid solid, maintaining excellent toughness and strength. This resin is suitable for marine/boat-building applications, parts production, and other general purpose uses. Product is sold by the Gallon, 5 Gallon or 55 Gallon Drum.

you need to fix the structural issues from the backside. then coverup on the top. use epoxy only for a fix this size.
