I made a deal for this Eliminator that was pretty blind on my part. I got it from someone in Louisiana who was not very straightforward as to the condition and I rushed into it because I had another distraction. So it is now that I am diving deeper into this hull that all the flaws in the past repairs are becoming quite evident.
As my initial project started out to simply replace the saddle tank mounts with new bulkheads, add some structural/floatation foam has now taken all my prep time to rig a safe boat. So while I have invested an easy $$$$$ in the past few months, I have to pull the plug on 2018 boating to make this hull ONE again. The hull at some point has been split, and was not reinforced or even laminated in the right areas when the top & bottom hulls rejoined. It has taken the better part of two weeks just to restore the damages, rotted wood and fix the shoddy work. Many of the seams were not lined up when joined, so all those were cut out, dug into and rebuilt so the parts would match with structural integrity.
I can clearly determine that if I had just rigged this hull and shown up for the race it would have broken apart and been a total loss. I should probably start a thread on my rebuild of this boat since the investment of time could certainly show people where to look when buying a boat built when I graduated High School!
I have added pics of my custom fuel tank made by Jason Wolf... it is BADASS and fits perfectly! What is not evident in the pic is the 1-gallon header tank welded to the back of this main 38-gallon tank.
The scoop is a Harwood 3159 Pro Drag. It will fit perfectly reversed as a fairing for the motor!

I bought a Liberator from a guy in Nebraska site unseen because it was a "good deal". The only thing good about it was the motor had low hours. I started by fixing some of the cracks in the gelcoat and it lead me to a full restoration with transom replacement and core replacement in the floor....very expensive and time consuming. Now it is like brand new and built to 2018 specs as far as plastic fuel tank and transom knees. I had a lot of help from Randy Corson a gem of a guy. It now has a 300xs on it. On my bucket list is to race the enduro, maybe some day.

You sure the mounting area on that tank can withstand a marathon race, that's a lot of weight bouncing around, I ran a 28+ mile race back in 1980 and my tank ripped loose after hitting big rollers, Best of luck safety is key, I commend you on your effort.

The tank has brackets that will be tied into the stringers, sitting on foam, that is built up underneath with a chamber solid with structural foam boxed and glassed into the hull. The rear of the boat was built up with more foam to absorb the impact and was prescribed by someone who builds the offshore hulls for SeaHunt boats. I also plan to add two safety straps made by MAC Tie-Downs to keep the tank in the hull should there be a roll-over impact that would compromise the structure.

Good Morning S & F Nation! Today is the first day I have had a internet connection as well as time to get back on here since Michael blew through here.
I am thrilled to see so much east coast enthusiasm in this event. WOW 4 full pages since the 9th when I was last able to log on. I would love to see an event such as this on the east side
and maybe a annual 4 event circuit throughout the country. I have spoke with a few very active boaters here in Florida that are interested as well. We have some very good places to hold events such as this, "St. Johns River from just south of Jacksonville to Palatka" is just one. How about a huge circle run around Lake Okeechobee? There are so many good places east of the Mississippi to hold events like this.
I spoke with Ross a few weeks ago who had a meeting with the rules committee and got approval for me to run the turbine warlock in division 7 which is pretty much limited by the speed limit of 112 mph and 25' long.
Unfortunately I lost my house and will be stuck dealing with the insurance stuff for the next little while and wont make it this year. Looking forward to next year and getting some interest spooled up for an event on this side of the country.

John I like the way you talk. All that's required for the start up is for someone to take the rains and go with it. Somebody has to be in charge.

I am going to reach out to a couple of event coordinators for guidance and see if I can get the support and see if I have what it takes to get the ball rolling.
I'll be looking for interest and support from the S & F Nation.
y'all sound off on your thoughts!

Find somewhere with minimal sea walls and insurance providers aren't real crazy about racing under bridges.

stand by your rules whatever they are. Try not to get influenced by racers trying to customize a class to their own boat. Go for the numbers as in lots of boats per class.

Well, did some testing all day Sat on the lower Colorado river. Glad we were testing and not racing. We tried jets, props and a different set of carbs and are stuck at 5500. Rips out of the hole but struggles to pull into the higher RPM's. We hope it's the high side of the stator or some other electrical issue. Had to come home to pay the bills. Heading back out Wed to hopefully sort things out.

Good luck with your testing Keith. That's usually the most time consuming and head scratching part. You'll get'er done!

The race is a couple days away. Got here yesterday to work on the boat and test. We used a dial indicator to mark the timing on each cylinder and found number 4 was firing inconstant with the our timing light. Check the coil and found it was missing the ground strap. Pull the coil pack for 4 and 3 and found #3 had some damage to the magnetic. Replaced both coils and rechecked the timing. Everything appears good. Will test later and hope to get the RPMS were looking for.8
