CRT front half
I have a CRT front half for sale that I got in a drawing at an event earlier this year. It looks to have had a weld or 2 but was cleaned up nicely. It is a nice piece but I would rather have the cash for other projects on my boat, as this would sit on the shelf for some time for me before being ready to use it. Caldwell told me it was valued at $3,000, so that is what I will have to have to let go of it. For any less it will sit on the shelf until im ready to use it. Will trade for a nice 15" mid for a 2.5.

I’m really not sure. When I got it I just asked Matthew what it was valued at because they are so new to us so I had no idea where to start if I wanted to sell it and he told me $3,000

What is the difference between this front and a mercury front, besides the blue anodizing?

Yep definitely only costs about $100 more to make something out of billet than to be cast.

I’m not being sarcastic. I’ve never seen one before. What is benefit of this front half?

CRT is developing an all billet 2 stroke race engine to "fill the void" in the market since Merc's exit. There have been a few examples show up in photos and maybe a few at the boat show in Miami. No units have been sold to my knowledge and many here are skeptical about their availability. There has been a lot of hype and advertising but no product. It may be coming, but at the price point it's out of my league. If CRT really wants to have a place in the market they need to invest in castings instead of 5 angle CNC machines..JMO!
Will CRT stiff interchange with Merc? Who knows? I think this front half will be a nice conversation piece until someone is able to actually buy and run a CRT power head and window the front half. Then they will need a replacement. The day may never come; but if it does $3,000 may not sound too bad...Josh Peterson

Bullet that was mainly aimed at John. And there is a product that is currently being demonstrated at just about all of the DSRA races right now. The parts are interchangeable and this front half will bolt up to any small bearing 2.5 block. I just run a pro stock set up and do not want to have to go to super gas rules

I'm just trying to figure out the benefit. I will stick with the $200 cast front halfs until they run out. I cant imagine how I would feel if I made a window in a $3000 front half.

My opinion only: I`ve never laid eyes on one either but my guess is maybe some crank case psi difference or at least the ability to adjust that due to being machined and not cast. Second is since it is billet aluminum it is way stronger than cast. Add that to a machined billet block and there is more strength and rigidity. Plus maybe a rod would find it difficult to punch a hole through a billet wall. All just guesses on my part.
