I think there is a lot of resistance on these new motors because it takes everything away from the two strokes. Before it was easy to say two strokes are the only way to go on performance boats, lighter, stronger and easy to rebuild. But now we see a light high performance 4 stroke on 87 octane and if it lasts as long as the other 4's which is what 1500-2000 hours? it really makes the 2 stroke market obsolete. I was right on the edge of buying twin Merc 2 strokes but decided to go with the new single 300 just for future resale. It does excite me thinking of all the larger cats that are going to drop in price because the average owner/buyer (no one here) will want to buy a boat with motors no longer made. I plan to run my boat with a single 300 for a year or so (being slow) until I see a cheap skater come up for sale by some one who sold the motors off on ebay. I used to have a kx500, great bike ran perfect and very clean, but when the 450 4s became normal the most I could get was 1200 bux for it because no one wanted the 2s.

Well, the good news and the bad news! I got the motor today. Bad news is that I can't hook it up till next week. Seems like Mercury Racing is on a budget and is too cheap to include a rigging tube and clean power harness. Both of which are included with the 250 V8. They couldn't even include battery cables! I have cables, but the other stuff has to come from Wisconsin and won't be here till next Monday. You'd think they would at least mention to the dealer that they are too cheap to include them. I guess I can just sit here in a chair and look at it!

    I'm hooked

I'm interested in the thread for sure - I skipped from page 4 to 8 . Not sure what I missed but ended up at the pallet pic and that was rewarding . The new stuff is super nice. Pricing and performance numbers will be nice to hear.

Interesting... For $8989, my ProXS 115 came with battery cables! Also the rigging tube adapter, but no tube. No power harness at all though. All that was extra, which was OK because I went the vessel-view route.

I KNOW WHY YOU DIDN'T GET ANY EXTRAS THOUGH!!! It's because they gave you a metal shipping skid. Mine was only on a wooden pallet. They had to save money from that metal skid somehow - - - a bit of less copper without battery cables did the trick lol!

You dont get a metal skid, or shipping box, you lose $300 if you dont return it as a dealer however that is the nicest one I ever saw. Ours are usually well used and rusty looking. Cant wait for results.

At least I see conventional lifting points. I hated the verado's lifting gear that you had to buy "special".....
