That being the case, it will need to be run very high to get that big case out of the water. But I'm sure you know that already...

Comparisons to to Promax and Xs Motors is absurd. This new motor is a beast...and it’s in its infancy. The 300xs was the culmination of 20 years of 3.0L works....200xs and Promax even longer. The 300Ris all new and only going up in hp. It’s going to idle better, have more torque, and get way better economy. Comparisons to the “Caldwell” motor are even more ridiculous. The 300R is here. Available. Not some mythical internet sensation. Enroute, to be mounted and tested.

Im really excited to hear how Randy gets this to run....and if it gets anywhere near the number of a 300xs, the 300R and it’s higher hp versions that are coming are going to be game changers

Nobody will debate that the promax, 225X, 300X, and many others are great motors. The 1985 GS1150E is great bike too but the fact of the matter is that they are old technology and better things have replaced them. You live in snowmobile country-look at that line of product changes in the last 15 years. Would you even consider riding an old sled if you had the chance to get a "old sled (new in the crate)"? There is nothing better then progression and mechanical advancement "as long as it remains affordable to the masses". We are moving forward, some will move forward today others will follow at a later date but "we are all moving forward".

Dumb question, were these the ones that kept breaking? Did they get that resolved?

We hear plenty about how overpriced the new motors are. Interestingly, a 2018 300r is not only 15% more powerful than a 1994 260, it's amazingly 20% cheaper when you adjust for inflation, not to mention use roughly half the fuel most of the time.

Edit: the 300r is also cheaper than the 280 and 300x, inflation adjusted.

Don’t apply logic and facts to the arguement. . This is the Internet, emotion and hyperbole are all people seem to care about theses days.

It seems I was misunderstood in my first reflection of the 300R i am not nor did I say they are nothing but awesome. Im just saying they could be more awesome if they put a little more thought into it so that these motors could attract an even wider audience. 30 lbs little and 1000 rpm more isn't a whole lot to ask for. And im sure doable since motors that are way more powerful and littler have existed for years. and i would not compare a Promax to a 300R thats just silly. But the Q on reliability low maintenance was that Q and hands down though pretty far down on the performance scale compared to a 300xs or 300r or 300X or 300 anything a promax is littler and reliable with low maintenance that all. and ya the sleds these days are sick the lines they take can get you in trouble way faster than before. i was simply stating i read an interview wasn't my view on closer inspection of what i said. haha And about the CRT motor well thats just custom goodness right there wish there was alot more of them made to date to get a base line as to what they would be good on. But thats not apples to oranges. Thats more like comparing a Camaro SS to a Lamborghini both fast as heck. You can readily buy the Camaro but there are only a few Lambos made each year. But thats sold as a race motor with no telling the longevity or maintenance at this stage. Maybe one day they can mass produce them and we can see how they do on different hulls other than light small race hulls. But agree with you Joe wasn't saying anything different really .

Man your so lucky being being a poor Florida Boy what I would give to have a new motor and new bigger boat!! I think a 25 liberator with twin 300R,s should do it.

Cant wait to hear and watch your report on your new motor!! Randy are you putting it on a 21 Liberator first?

haha yep merc stock side pinned 33cc Jay heads,7800 brucato box, lots of air flow work on cowl and funky fuel delivery. But hey its still alive and well {jinx} i actually am in disbelief myself and a few years ago thought that was it? Still strong so who knew. haha Mark Harden in SC built it very very good I think is the only reason it still lives!

The fact that they added 1.4 liters of displacement through 2 cylinders, 2 con rods, and a longer crank, plus a counterbalance shaft, 4 camshafts, 32 valves, elaborate cylinder head castings, and a pressurized oil system, and added a scant 7 lb over the outgoing 2-stroke is an engineering marvel. But you think the new 4.6 4-stroke v8 should have been 23 lb lighter than the 3.2 2-stroke v6 it replaced if they had just put a little more thought into it?
