its lighter than a Verado but heavier than a 300x or 300xs, whats the cutting edge part?
We loved the 300x, light and fast
We loved 300xs heavier but used less fuel
We love the 350 verado way heavier more horsepower
    We love the 300v8 because?

Lighter than any other 4s 300, equivalent weight to outgoing 2s, more torque, better manners all around, should be more reliable and longer lasting (unless merc botched the design or manufacturing), probably more powerful (why else would the 300r have different cams and intake from 300?), 87 octane fuel, v8 sound, etc...

Light, fast , torque, offshore clamp assy., sportmaster case, quad cam variable valve timing, efficiency, sound, displacement, future opportunities for more power etc., etc, etc, All the same reasons we like the new LS platforms and the Ford 5.0 Vs. the old small block stroker motors that you had to build.

so for a Merc owner that hasnt had a Verado its lighter but everything else is same as all the the other 4s?
if it gains a supercharger and goes 400+, it will be impressive ( if they can do that lighter than a Verado)

I just hope they don't have the same problems that coyote motors have with the chain system. They don't actually fail, they just make a horrendous racket on SOME motors.

Not only lighter, but it also makes more torque than the other 4 stroke 300's and has the sportmaster.

I'm having trouble following your logic. First you wanted to compare the 300r to all the other 300 4s on the market, which is laughable. Then you wanted to compare it to the 300x, 300xs, and 350, then you switch back to comparing it to other 4s. You point out its heavier than the 300xs (7 lb), but then downplay the weight vs other 4s meanwhile overlooking the sportmaster availability. Where are you going with this?

Randy, can't wait to hear your opinion. To my knowledge that will be the first review of the new motor vs old motor on the same boat.
Maybe YouTube post? I'm sure a lot of people would like to hear it based on your knowledge of hi performance boats and motors.

This is truely an open ended argument becuase there is no real world comparison, hopefully randy will give us some insight on the subject.

If you go go back to early posts about the 300x or 300xs there is a lot of speculation on how the motor was soppose to do, until someone buys a 300r and beats the piss out of it, we won’t know the truth. If anyone wants to donate I will be happy to be the test dummy
