That will probably work well but what do you think the market for this motor on small boats is going to be if it takes a $5000 prop to make it perform? At that point you’re pushing $10k more than a dialed in 300SX for what, 5 mph?
i know, there’s a lot more development to do before judgement is passed and the low end torque is impressive and what it does with this prop will be a benchmark but someone needs to figure out how to make a “normal” priced prop work, just saying.Last edited by mjw930; 07-22-2018 at 11:00 AM.

@Mark the market will be if you want a new performance boat or repower it's your only option @WILDMAN , how do you think this prop would work being a 5 blade with 32p and under a grand? I currently have hill marine choppers and cleavers they seem to work well. https://www.hillmarine.net/product-p/bpr5bmm.htm

It will get sorted out over time, for now it's great to have Wildman giving insights from the trenches.

Hydromotive P5X is the answer.

There will be less expensive stuff to come as the market demand becomes bigger. Dewald is hot on the X-cat stuff right now and his are much less then 5K but still not cheap. I stand by original statement that these things are going to be incredible with a little time and aftermarket tuning. Really looking forward to running the LCB/4.6 combination.

I have a p5x on a 400r/hdsm....it's pretty good but no max5. The blade shape and barrel are very similar to a max5 but the p5x has, for my own lack of proper vocabulary, regressive rake. The rake starts out high at the root and reduces as you move to the tip, similar to bravo1. Max5 is pretty much the same rake root to tip. Conversely, the pro max has an aggressively increasing rake as you move out on the blade.
That said, I've only tried a 25" p5x and a 28" max5, so my experience isn't a direct comparison.Last edited by engineermike; 07-22-2018 at 02:53 PM.
