3.6 X 3.4, so a perfect candidate for both forced induction and higher rpms.

Short stroke I like! the modular engines are 3.552 x 3.543, but over square is a good thing when it comes to high rpm v8's. I built a short stroke triton v10 for a jet boat and would spin 7k all afternoon, sounded real mean with dry headers.

Built in software protection has advanced light years over the past 11 years since the verado first came out but we will see if its going to be something that simple. What kind of real world speed gains have you guys experienced on a whipple reflash? what hull? just curious, I have no Verados personally.

Joe, Georges 24 Superboat with 225 verado went from 50mph to 69mph with 320 flash. The 320hp flash will use 91 octane. Hard to find 93 octane on water. Sure there is more in it as we really didnt play with props and left lots of rpms on table. Customers 26 Boston Whaler Outrage with twin 225 verados went from 48 to 66mph again with 320 flash.

I love my two strokes but sounds wicked.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

I know everyone is assuming a supercharged v8 but there are also rumors that this being a modular design a v10 may be out there also

I know you have more experience than me in this arena, but 375 hp won't fulfill my dream of STV performance in a 21' tunnel. Besides the bragging rights of 40% more torque with the added displacement of the 4.2, Mercury is leaving a lot of cards on the table with this light weight engine when compared to their own smaller 2.6 L inline supercharged 6 producing 400 hp and weighing 668 lbs. I hope they are going to make a run against Seven Outboards and 4.2 L at 505 lbs is a good platform to build on for that run.
