I usually torque the divider plate to 18 ft/lbs. You sound like you're new to high performance outboards. You really need to find a manual and don't be so quick to tear into every piece of it till you have a better understanding of what it is you're working on

I torqued it to 200 in/lbs (16.6ft/lbs). ive got a manual for my promax essentially same block for the most part just wanted to confirm the torque values. As I said I’m cleaning it up and selling it. No need for me to spend money on another manual. Also I don’t think pulling the heads off the motor and pulling the divider to inspect the rings is “tearing into every piece of it”. Ya I’m not jay smith but I’m also not dumb. Some of you s and f guys are so uptight

Haven’t lit the thing off yet still waiting on the injectors from Brucato but decided to play around with the leakdown tester today. So far #1 looks to be around 5%. I know this will all change once the things warmed up but the numbers can only get better once it’s warm right?

Any ideas on how to check fuel pressure at the rail without installing a inline gauge?

Looks like 5% at 27lbs? I think that # mite grow with correct pressure to it

The directions that came with the testers said put air to it, adjust the regulator until the percentage dial rests at 0% (which also lowered the pressure to 30ish) and then connect to the cylinder.

I suppose I could put 100psi to it and just measure the rise from whatever the percentage needles is at to what it goes to after I connect it.

I will let someone else jump in on this so I dnt pass off wrong info, but I do know they need be measured with 100lbs ,also depending on ur gauge, most guys here only use a certain brand or 2,and won't hook anything else to it (false readings)

Lit it off today. Fires right up and then bogs and dies unless I crack the throttle a 1/4. Seems to be instantly loading up. It’ll idle perfect for 10 seconds with the fuel pump off so I’m thinking I have too much fuel pressure? Bad regulator? I have no way to check fuel pressure. Thing is also puttin our a TON of smoke. I know these motors smoke but not like this. Any suggestions? 32:1 oil mix of 91 and premium plus merc oil. Checked compression after it was warm 130# across the board. Still trying to figure out this leakdown tester. Thing sounds goooooood though even running super fat. My have to put the offshore mid on my promax
