That gearcase would most likely only work on a 1985-1987 3.6 counter rotation engine because the counter rotation powerhead actually spun counterclockwise. I had a CR and SR case. Those cases were slow but bulletproof.

They are also a different shape than the first one posted?

Can you tell me why this gear case would be slow? Do they have different gear ratio. I have the same case on a 4.0 liter v8 and I'm struggling. Any help would be appreciated.

As said by Dave S what speed do you consider slow? What type or weight is your hull?

I have a 1991 gt300 v8 on a 21 foot avenger modified tunnel. It weighs about 1500 less the motor. I'm having a hard time getting it much over 60. It will turn 6000 with four blade 25 but only running 61 on the GPS. I tried 4 blade 28 but it won't turn that more than 5200 at 52 mph. It should be running better than that. Compression is 120 to 125 in all cylinders.

Yeah doesn't add up. Someone said something about the gear case being slow. My gear case looks just like the one in the picture above.
