Blew up my 2.4 Land an Sea 1987 motor

My freshly re ringed 2.4 ran great for 30 hrs and then blew up. I had it propped for 6300.

has a spacer plate and high ports 145 psi heads. About 34cc

had good water pressure and didn’t overheat.

    .82 jets, so fat jetting

ran super strong, was pushing my 21 Sanger to a very punchy 60

    bottom cylinder blew

there was a bit of water in the bottom cylinder.

anyone got any ideas? Head looks awfully clean.

    Bottom crank seal?

    ****ty Marina fuel?

    too much compression?

    needs a sleeve.

Those don't look like Land and Sea Heads at all.

I lost the same cylinder a few yrs back. Not sure why. I was just putzing along at 60mph too. My mains jets were 98.5's in a set of WH22's with 26cc heads and 4 pedal sport jet reeds.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

land and sea had a lot of different levels on their performance builds, not all of them had the heads like yours

the Land and sea part of my motor is pretty much the connecting rods and block. I was told this by the previous owner. They also machined and ported the block and rechromed
Supposedly. I acquired just the block and pistons crank rods etc in a trade.

so I could be wrong. But the connecting rod bolts are allen bolts. And the pistons are d ported. Well. Except the melted one.

can I change my user name or do I have to make a new account/register again? I didn't know about the original Phil, Out of respect I probably should change it even though spelling is different it's still the same name.

Those heads are great for making hot water.

That's exactly why Ruck modified them. He knew what he was doing. Besides, they all make hot water.

They made a dual plug version of that head too. The only set I’ve ever seen had one hole peppered real bad...

You can sleeve just 1 cylinder but It will be steel. You can the chrome but it will be Nic, not chrome. But they can only do all 6. Not just 1. It's nice to hear that a few land and sea parts made it all the way to 2018. I hope you post some pics of the parts, I'd be curious to see the items.
