For Sale: 1981 Hydrostream Viper with Mercury 115HP inline 6. $2200

Selling my 1981 Hydrostream Viper with an early 1970s Mercury inline 115HP 6 cylinder two stroke outboard. It's black with blue metal flake.
I originally purchased this in 2004 and restored it back to running condition, which included, at the time, a new-used gearcase, new-used flywheel, new spark plugs, wiring, adding a gas tank, Hydro Dynamics transom support plate, new speedo pickup, etc. Stored and garaged since 2007. Finally giving up hope that I will finish the restore. VIN: HSP 515 VP M81 I

Gelcoat is in reasonably good condition, still glossy over most of the boat, with a little sun damaged "dry" spot on the port bow (hard to see in pictures, or real life). Windshield and windshield railing are uncracked, unbent and not fogged.

Floorboards are solid in the front, but a little "squishy" under the rear seat area. It was "squishy" when I bought it, and in monitoring it over the time I've had it, it hasn't gotten worse. So I suspect there was some water damage, but it's stable for now.

Upholstery is toast. I began the rebuilding of the rear seat, but never finished. Would need to be reupholstered or get replacement seats to be perfect. The driver seat is still attached, so I have been using it as is, just putting cushions down for my tolerant guests.

    Engine:
    1978 Mercury inline 115.
Was running and winterized properly when stored in 2007, but the wires have not aged well in storage.
As you can see in the pictures, there is some corrosion and the wires are losing insulation.
Cylinder 6's spark plug wire was chewed by rodents.
As such, the engine will probably need a reasonable amount of work to get it back to running.
The gearcase still spins and shifts well.

    Trailer:
Fairly new tires that hold air. Spare is older and of lesser quality, but is included.
    Recently greased bearing buddies.
    Working lights.
    1 ⅞" ball.
Worked well when I towed it from MI to IL last year (2017).

    Also included in sale:
Mercury Quicksilver 3-blade stainless steel prop, 23 pitch, 48 11074 A40 23p. In near new condition.
Mercury Quicksilver Laser II 3-blade stainless steel prop, 24 pitch, 48 16994 A40 24p. Some surface corrosion, some edge wear.
Brand new in 2017 Optima Yellow Top battery
Bow light (original) and stern light (replacement)
Attwood Transom Saver, always used while trailering
Large fitting cover that a rodent chewed a couple small holes in on the side
    Rescue paddle
Brand new TH Marine Steer-N-Trim kit
Original base plate for a ski pole (boat has the original side attachment points still too, but I don't have the pole)

Just thought you should know that your inline is not a 1978. That is a early inline, I'd say a 1970-71. The fuel pump is a dead giveaway. Merc moved the pump to the lower cowling in 74. they also started painting the powerheads in 72 I'm pretty sure.

Looks like a good deal on a 15 viper. That motor can be made ss as 15 are easy to find for the old motors... Good luck it should sell......
