The moral of the story is, donate to anyone or anything "other" than the government. Even deed restrictions are eventually abused, especially if there are no longer any relatives that exist to follow them through, such with many Francis Langford/Evinrude land donations in Jensen Beach. Ralph has a daughter & a son, but that's another story. And "had" a grand-daughter, which is a very sad story in itself, as she was kidnapped & murdered from across the street from the OMC Test Center property there in Stuart, while working at a convienence store there, working her way through college.

...Yes. It was. Three guys that did it, went to prison for her kidnapping/killing. One, or was it two of them did not actually do the stabbings & dump her in the everglades, but the threesome were together, so all went away to prison, as they should. The mother, Ralphs daughter, actually fought in court over the years, to have one, or two of them, let out early, in there defense, as she felt they did not deserve as long a sentence as the actual leader/killer. There's a lot more to it than that, but I won't go into it any further, with regards to the Stuart Test Center & Ralph, etc.

Seems there were 4. One was executed 2 others are on the roe and one is in for life.
The one in for life was drunk and claimed he didn't know what he was doing.
I feel for their loss. So sad.Last edited by Steve G; 03-30-2020 at 12:53 PM.

Capt ... Just look at that wake she's~a~throwin ...
To be fair, I tried both times to find one blown up, layin in a junk yard, dog ***ing on it, etc .. no such luck. Maybe that broken mount / EGR valve puts enough exhaust in the cowl to where they make 4 HP and won't hurt themselves …

OMG this is hilarious I had the unfortunate luck to work on a lot of those 9.5s at the OMC dealership I used to work at. Being the low man on the totem pole, work orders for those ****boxes landed on my bench. We used to call them “toilet bowls” due to the rounded shape, general ****iness, and the fact they regularly breath their own farts as Chaz Highlighted (no extra charge EGR option). It was a big win if the estimate was high enough to get the owner to pull the plug. The ‘74-up 9.9/15 platform was way better with the possible exception of the low tension ignition. I’m an OMC guy but this was not their finest design. The 6hp units of the same era are gems however.

Usually the motor mounts **** the bed and the pull the choke out when you open the throttle. Then the cowls seals leak. I dont know how they went from the nice 10 horse of the 50's and completely ****ed it up.

To be clear, if you read-read my post, I did not insinuate that OMC invented the bracket.
I was attempting to show the Seadrives close relation to it and how popular bracketed boats are now.
Ive owned three.
If Yamaha offered a 900 lb 4 stroke O/B that would mount to a flat transom (wink, wink, nod, nod) would it sell today?
Like many inventions, sometimes the timing is a bit off.
If everything you try succeeds, you’re not trying hard enough.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
