    ...I am amused when Gil Marine...or Evinrude/Johnson/OMC, or whoever else, claim they "created" or "invented" the outboard standoff brackets for outboards...such as OMC's Seadrives...

    ...Even the later OMC Sterndrives retained that electric(in the water) trim motor & gear, that continued to fail, especially in the saltwater envirement...

    motor was inside the boat, was a bit weird but it was reliable

    Yup its a worm drive the housing on the outside is the clutch pack. I like the rudes but the stern drive was a pos.

    It was anything but reliable. Replacing those trim motors was a pain in the ass.

    yep that wasnt a fun job,
    they lasted better if the operator was easy on the button

    They didn't last if they used it for trim, rest of the drive was POS as well. Still get the odd person bring one in they found in a barn and want it repaired.
