Damn what are people are thinking, why replace something or redesign the transom you're not the manufacturer???? Ok I'll get a hold of myself. Ok Noli I'm watching do this with guidance from the rest of us here.Clean all that out and blow dry it just incase there's water left in the hull. Do you have your materials already to replace that transom? More pics please Geeeez!

How many beers downed before that plan was hatched? Nasty work, nice to see your going deeper into it but with above posters I dont know how you cant tear into the core and do that at the same time, only have to paint and seal everything once and done, enjoy for life type thing.

The powerplants today are so different than when these were first designed then built. I want to cover all bases. If I put a lightweight 2 stroke it would work just fine, but who knows what the next owners would power this with. I'm a software engineer by trade and I follow the principle of have a broad enough solution today so that you've already solved the problems in the future that I wasn't expecting.
Plus I'm just playing. This Hydro is one of many boats that I will rebuild under one motto...no wood, vacuum bagged...play with carbon fibre...plan the solution three steps ahead of where I am today.
This is all fun chit, and definitely lots of fun for me. The reason why I do this work on my weekends is because this is actually relaxing work for me. And...i win again...when I finally ride it in open ocean....yes it's a win-win for me.

60 pounds of resin and rot in the garbage can. Makes you feel good knowing that crap is out and gone. Three steps out is good planning.....I think you got this very well under control, noli....

As the hull designs progressed PK figured out how to use less core and in regular size sheets so there isn’t nearly as much labor involved to do the bigger boats than to do a Viper or Vector!

What the . . . . ? those hulls are gonna be warped! Hehehehe just joking, Noli you need to put a core you don't want a soft boat when you jump a 2' wake from another boat???

Great work so far...make sure you put a few layers of some new fiberglass on that transom shell before you put the transom in

yes, agreed
the next steps I'm planning are:
1. thicken the transom skin
2. make foam core bedding for transom to stand on
3. install coosa transom
4. light body work to finish off the transom skin (facing the bilge)
5. paint or gel the transom

IMO the transom is the most critical part of any boat construction. This is the place you want to over build. Interesting idea on foam bed. Have you seen it used before?

Reasoning being that it keeps a hard point off the trans trailing edge?
