For Sale: Clean 1989 Yamaha 225 EXCEL
Greetings fellow Speed Enthusiasts,
Offered for sale: $3,400
1989 225 Yamaha EXCEL with controls and newer digital gauges
Location: Catskill, New York
Contact me through this forum or the marina through craigslist
This is MY motor being sold for me by "Riverview Marina".
The motor was just removed from my Boston Whaler Outrage 22 Cuddy for a repower.
This Motor Runs Perfectly and has done so every time I used it. I am re-powering so I may teach my children how to operate a boat without needing to be physically strong nor mechanically inclined. This is not a re-power because of any engine troubles. The Whaler is getting an Etec G2 225. I told the marina owner I would buy him a beer if the G2 pushes the boat faster than the Yami. It's a hot one.
Newer lower unit (previous owner - done in 2013) including shift shaft. As you may know, Yamaha has issues with corrosion of the shift shaft and the powerhead needed to be removed to switch it out.
Separate oil tank pumps reliably.
Includes a 19" pitch SS and a painted aluminum prop
Includes a complete impeller kit NIB.
This motor pushed my boat to 50 mph with a light load and 46 mph fully loaded.
Second cowling (I used it for winter storage)
I always maintained this motor myself. Always used Yamalube fuel treatment, fuel/water separator, and West Marine 2s Oil. I always used Ethanol Free fuel. No trolling, just cruising, running to fishing spots, and tubing.
Best estimate of hours is in 300 to 500 range. I put 120 hours on it myself according to my ship's logbook since 2014 season.
Used mostly for cruising the Hudson River and Adirondack lakes...and a few trips around Manhattan Island.
This is a mostly freshwater motor. The first owner (1989 to 2009) used it on Florida Lakes (trailered). The second owner used it on the Jersey shore on weekends (mostly at anchor), flushed it and trailered during the week. I have owned it since December 2013.
If interested, please see Craigslist listing hosted by the marina broker, Mike.
The tech removed the motor after performing a thorough on-the-water inspection and cruise and will vouch for its performance.
This one Screams. Ready for 7000 RPM or more!!
