The Mercury Racing 250R and 300R details

Here are some of the details of the engines, and their differences from the Mercury Marine engines. The midsection is really the interesting part, the bracket and mounts are a very cool design.

I would've liked to have seen them breath on the V6 version.

One thing that is interesting is the V8 ProXS engines are lighter by about 15 Lbs. Part of the reason is the cowling on the ProXS is lighter than the the stock version, and so is the Torque master lower unit, lighter than the Sportmaster.

Clamp bracket from a 1982 V6....Made for mercs new 3.4.... the strongest merc ever made. One ram forged tuff stuff. Imo the weak link is the swivel pin unless they upgraded it.I am sure they did.

Bracket is definitely not from an 82 V6.

The pricing is right, given the R versions will be about $1,000 to $1,500 more than the Pro versions. Interesting how the ProXS version is lighter by 15 lbs, and since most don't need the Sportmaster, it might be a tough sell for the 250R.

Know what clamp your refering to Dave S... Amazing how many production and race engines its basic design has put to task on. I believe it was first introduced in '79, on all the 2.0 & 2.4 litres.
