I’m not sure that allowing content that has been shared with Merc dealers in confidence to be posted in advance of the official “release” date is in the interest of this site or its users. As much as we would all like to be “in the know” ahead of the rest of the crowd, I’m not sure Greg has the resources to go up against Ma’ Merc’s legal team...

I wasn't thinking along those lines as much as I was thinking that they have been hearing their customers asking for something light weight with more power. I think that they have responded very well with the technology that are now offering us. This new V-8 block weighs less then the XS block. Mercury invested millions of dollars in tooling and machinery to pull this off and we are the ones that get to take advantage of it. I was a 300X fan for the last 14 years and to me this is the first thing that is superior to them.

Variable valve timing technology gives you endless opportunity. There will be aftermarket e.c.u.s and guys doing tunes on them just like the LS and ford small blocks. Remember that these are based on 87 octane fuel so you know that they will take a positive reaction to some more compression and better fuel once there is tuning available for them. The only downside to all of this is as I have mentioned many times before-People are going to die with the new performance capabilities that we have at our fingertips.
Do the math of a 1.61 gear at 7,000 on something that will pull a 36 pitch wheel=insanity!!

I’m thinking the ratios need to go even closer to 1:1 with all the grunt! We all know prop efficiency drops once you start passing 30.” What diameter are the wheels on these new motors? I guess once you increase diameter you can get more pitch without sacrificing efficiency...

The case is .0600 bigger so my guess is that I will be running a 15.125 5 blade. The quality 5 blade propellers that are available today have very low slip numbers when they are rigged correctly. Grant set the first DW28 up and it showed 2% on our first run out. Gary Ballough has seen 0 slip several times on his race boats. These are 29 to 35 pitch propellers.

I used to race back in 1975. For fun. outlaw was fun. APBA came in for the good and cost rose. Gas rose.Fun was less. Just my early daze. Went to bay funn. Used to beach boat in the 80s.Moved to a non-speed boat area in the 90s. Now old and dreaming. My dad lists stuff to sell on E bay and says things are dead. He is 93 but still trying. He don't understand why things are different these days. After 911-bushes fault- the Obama years- and now Russia fault. How do we.... USA move forward? Trump wants to MAGA but the young don't have it together. And it is harder on them in life with prices to live with. And jobs are now done by Mexicans that don't want boats. And all the disasters from storms and fires and floods have had an impact. Lots of things have changed in life.......

I own and run HydrostreamForums.com and Facebook has pretty much brought my web site to a stand still. For the first 4-5 years it was getting a lot of traffic, posts, builds, etc... and now it gets very little traffic, over half of the big contributors have not been back in ages and its all because of facebook. People post on there and get instant gratification, likes, etc... The big issue I have with Facebook is, builds get lost and so far out of order very quickly and just doesnt have any real structure to it. I have tried so many things to try and get people back there and move back over there from Facebook but it might work for a week then its just a ghost town again.
I am barley hanging on keeping the site up now days. Without member participation it can only last so long before I have to cut my losses and shut it down.-Kevin
