It's obviously important that some people stay on their meds.

Think most SNF MEMBERS are serious performance boaters and economy and noise are low on our list. new 4 strokes are different animal and just crazy expensive. it will take a while but us hot boaters will eventually fade to make room for the new wave of eco friendly motors with a non removable cowl. remember the muscle car era that came to an end too much pollution , lead etc. were the river cowboys! too much is just right, trim up.

Someone will come up with an argument against them being eco friendly. Hang one on an Alli and compare the mph mpg , apples to apples.

05-25-2018, 09:30 PM #189I just checked in to do a search on something and saw this thread. I'm one of the members who has been on here since the Bravenet forum in '99. I agree, Fascist Book and the dumbphones did a lot to change things. Just deleted my FB account about a month ago. Go for it, it's awesome. The feeling is somewhere between watching a Harley throw a connecting rod and having a massive bowel movement. Personally I dropped back on my visits to this site several years ago and only check in every few months now. I found over a period of years that many of the more common subjects tend to repeat themselves. Boating in general also became more yuppified, hot boating kind of followed suit, and that's just not me. It's bad enough that we have to put up with it on the water, so why make it worse by reading about $50,000 outboards and gauges that are smarter than me. If that's not enough, I sit at a computer working in SAP (a horrible system by the way regardless of what the latte-sipping nerds say about it) all day long for my job and handle 100-200 e-mails a day. I've reached a point where I have very little interest in sitting at a computer and interacting with people during my time off. It's nothing against anyone here. Last but not least, I'm still very much interested in hot outboards but have also renewed my interest in water skiing over the past few years, and have also been doing a lot of motorcycling and hiking.

Hello!
I´ve noticed the same since I joined in 2011. Its getting harder to make people reply to threads iot to get their opinions and the discussion going.
I try to keep my build thread going (Looper exhaust porting) like a forum for ideas, do´s & dont´s.
I try to use pictures as much as possible, which I find extremly easy with the functionality of this board. Take a pic with your Iphone and publish instantly, there is no excuses for not posting and showing... Despite this I find it hard to keep the thread alive. Its harder to get replies, even though people seem to be viewing. Maybe the subject is simply not intresting enough??
Hope the interest will increase once again!
//Anders

Of course it is. It is a super-exciting topic to discuss.
We were already in the know. The info was in a number of places out there. The point is discussing that information.
If Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal can publish rumors about upcoming Apple products written by their own journalists, surely a bunch of rednecks can provide user-generated rumors about upcoming Mercury products on S&F.
Publishing copyrighted materials, say the sales brochure, is one thing.
Publishing that people who have been at Lake X say that there will be a V8, and that it will be the greatest marine engine of all times, and that it will weigh no more than a 300xs, is something else...Markus' Performance Boating Links:
